He’s been a phenomenal third-down back, but he’s also a good runner.” That’s what Andy Reid said about a certain someone back in the 2021 AFC Championship game. It was none other than RB Samaje Perine. He must’ve caught Andy’s eye after a 41-yard catch and run for a touchdown in that game, which was the key to the Bengals‘ comeback. This game remains Kansas City‘s only playoff loss in the past three seasons and also prevented them from achieving a record fifth consecutive Super Bowl appearance. Guess what? He’s playing for the Chiefs after signing a one-year contract worth $1.5 million.

But he’s been in the game for a long time now. He started his college football career back in 2014. And that was the year he got the Big 12 Offensive Freshman of the Year award for his shelf. Why? He literally rushed for 427 yards on 34 carries along with five touchdowns in a victory over Kansas. Nobody has touched his NCAA FBS record for the most rushing yards in a single game, sheesh. We could talk all day about his performances over the years. But today, let’s take a detour to the valley of emotional connections and see who’s filling up his life with love and support.

Who is Samaje Perine’s wife?

Samaje Perine’s wife, Meg Perine, studied accounting and finance at the University of Oklahoma, the same place as Samaje. She once worked as an equipment manager for Oklahoma Soccer, an assistant teacher at Primrose Schools, and a services officer at A+ Federal Credit Union. But her true passion was always in something else. Back in college, when asked about her dream job, she said, “My dream job is to own my own bakery one day. I want to go to culinary school eventually.” Now, Meg is living that dream. She often shares her baking routines on Instagram and runs a blog called Touchdown Kitchen, where she posts recipes, baking procedures, and updates about her family.

Megan’s love for her husband and kids is all over the internet—almost like she uses it as her personal diary. She’s always there, cheering Samaje on every step of the way. In one of her IG posts, she wrote, “I always like to get a couple pics of just Maj & me whenever we do family pictures. It started out as just the two of us, and one day the kids will grow up and move out, and it’ll be just the two of us again. My person forever.” If that doesn’t make you go all awwww, then I don’t know what will.

When did Samaje Perine get married?

They say true love is dead. Well, Samaje Perine and Meg wouldn’t agree. Their love goes way back to 2011. I know, right? They had that romance straight out of a fairytale book. The kind that buds in high school, dreams of marriage, and raising a family together someday. And they did all of that. February 2017 will always be a core memory for Meg, when Samaje Perine proposed to her with the help of magician Daniel Fernandez. And let me tell you, the proposal went viral because it was truly magical.

The couple tied the knot on June 23, 2017, in a beautiful church wedding—just like every girl dreams of. On their fifth anniversary, Meg posted on IG. Her words clearly show that she’s the kind of understanding woman every man needs in his life. “Our life right now is hectic and busy and keeps us on our toes, but it’s also so full of joy and love, and I fully believe that’s because we were meant to do this life together. Happy five years Samaje. I love you.”

Does Samaje Perine have kids?

Meg blessed Samaje with three beautiful children. Landyn, their first child, was born on March 20th, 2019. It must’ve been really emotional and exciting for both of them, as this was a breakthrough to a whole new experience of being parents. She shared her joy on the blog as well: “Maj and I are expecting our first child this March! We are absolutely over the moon and cannot believe we get to meet our little one in just a little over four months.” Their second child, Major, arrived on February 11, 2021, followed by their youngest, Aila James, on March 17, 2023. Together, they are an army of five now.

And you know what? Meg is enjoying motherhood with her whole heart. Just go take a quick peek at her Instagram, and all you’ll see is broken teeth and ponytails. Just like she never missed cheering for Samaje, she’s the same for her kids too. Last year, on Aila’s birthday, she posted a beautiful picture on her IG and wrote, “How in the world is our angel baby already ONE?! Happy birthday, babygirl.” And she does that for all her kids. For Meg, family is everything, and she makes sure to cherish every single moment.
