Matt Breida is making headlines with his return to the San Francisco 49ers. The NFL free agent RB has decided to sign a deal with SF after playing his first three NFL seasons with them. The NFL RB’s last two seasons with the New York Giants were inadequate, with 151 running yards and one touchdown in 2023. However, with his new agreement, he hopes to emulate his past performance in the upcoming season. He continues to move upward in his NFL career with the unwavering support of his wife, Silvana Breida.

Silvana has been playing several roles behind the scenes to keep her NFL husband and high school sweetheart motivated at all costs. The power couple exchanged their vows in 2018 after dating each other for years.

The NFL pair started dating during their sophomore year in high school. Despite Matt being a star athlete at Nature Coast HS, his generous attitude towards everyone left a lovely impression on Silvana. “He’s just a really good person,” she remarked. “It’s not too often you find guys with his talent who are not over the top about themselves, conceited. He’s just a very humble person. That’s what drew me to him.”

Seemingly, Silvana prefers to keep her personal life private, as her social media account is deactivated. However, the NFL couple’s lovely bond often captivates their fans. Recently, two months ago, in June, Matt Breida took to his official IG handle to express his unconditional love for his high school sweetheart. He uploaded multiple pictures featuring them together and gave a cheeky symbolic caption, dropping red heart eyes, crossed fingers, and locked emojis.

A little background to the love story. It first blossomed during their high school days at Nature Coast Technical High School, north of Tampa, Florida. In 2011, Matt and Silvana played on the same varsity football team during high school as juniors. Since then, they have been good teammates. Matt played as an RB with number 4, while Silvana Paonessa played as the team’s kicker with number 21.

Like her NFL sweetheart, Silvana also dominated high school football games, becoming the first female football player in Hernando County history. In 2011, Paonessa grabbed much attention by hitting the extra points in the opening match, leading her team to a 42-0 win for the Sharks.

Though, when all the focus was on his then-girlfriend’s playoff, in an instant move, Matt drew the attention as he finished the season as the school’s leading scorer. After Matt, it was Silvana who secured the 2 spot in the school’s top scores list. And, since always, Matt has been enamored by his wife’s football skills.

Matt Breida and Silvana bond over football

Silvana belongs to a family of football enthusiasts. Even her brother played football for the youth league team. Thus, her interest in football is understandable. Earlier, during an interview, Breida revealed that it was a single season that his current wife played football. And, the NFL RB also adored his wife’s football skills, talking about backyard play with her.

“We’ll go out in the backyard and she’ll cross me over pretty good,” he exclaimed. However, he also shed light on her preferred sport, which is soccer. She started playing soccer at the young age of 6. During an interview in 2018, the San Francisco 49ers RB also emphasized Mrs. Breida’s soccer experience, praising her field skills.

He claimed that she knew how to kick without any trainer. “All she had was her soccer experience. So she would go out to any field she could, kick a bunch of field goals. She was playing with us. All the football workouts that we did, she did. She was getting just as strong as we were. I held the ball for her when I could, but she did a lot of it on her own, so I give her a lot of credit,” Matt Breida stated.

Allegedly, the first time Silvana saw her NFL hubby was while he was playing football with her brother at the age of 9. Expectedly, she cheered for her brother over her now husband.  “I always had an interest in football,” she revealed in an interview. “I loved football, always watched football, was around football my whole life.”

It is indeed their common love for football that has bound them together since the early days, while their love and respect for each other continue to grow.
