Is the power couple of Marist Liufau and Sonia Citron the next big thing in sports?

While the Cowboys had a disappointing start for 2024, they are still keeping their hopes high! And how could they not expect everything to fall into place when they’ve got talented young players like Marist Liufau on their side? Liufau is the kind of player who brings intensity and heart to every snap. As a linebacker, he has become famous for his relentless energy and big-play ability.

Moreover, in the coach-play communication, the rookie often gets referred to as the ‘green dot.’ Whether the LB is making key tackles or rallying the defense, his presence is felt all over the gridiron. And when he is not playing, he could be spotted supporting the Boys from the sideline. But who is the Defensive MVP’s pillar of strength? Well, we won’t be wrong if we say it is Sonia Citron, Marist Liufau’s girlfriend!

While Marist Lifau is a rising star in the NFL, his partner, Sonia Citron is a shining superstar in women’s basketball. She has been making waves since her high school days in New York. Whether it’s on or off the court, the basketball player is known for her liveliness, grit, and pure talent. And that’s not all!

Citron is not just about scoring points (though she does plenty of that); she brings energy on defense too. Rocking the #11 jersey for Notre Dame, she contributes in nearly every stat category—whether it’s rebounds, assists, or steals, she has got it covered.

As a Notre Dame Fighting Irish guard, Sonia was a member of the 2019 USA Basketball U16 National Team. Her journey started early, playing varsity basketball as an eighth grader, and since then, she has never looked back. And guess what? While getting better with each year, she has won gold with Team USA, earned All-American honors, and even grabbed the ACC Freshman of the Year award.

And it’s not just basketball—Citron is also a math geek, an all-state soccer player, and a straight-A student with a 95.6 GPA. Now, that’s impressive! Inspired by her family and role model Candace Parker, Citron is a well-rounded athlete who knows how to lead. She averaged over 17 points per game this past season. Well, it is a mile-long list!

Sonia set a new program record with a 91.2% free-throw percentage, hitting 91 attempts and standing as the only player in the conference to break the 90% mark. Since being named ACC Freshman of the Year in 2022, she has become a standout player and received a long list of awards. Heading into her senior year, she is already projected to be a top-10 pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft. So, how did Sonia Citron meet our NFL player Marist Liufau? Well, it’s an interesting story!
