Is Mahogany Jones the secret to Deebo Samuel's success on the field?

If you watched “Quarterback” on Netflix and liked it, buckle up because their new series “Receiver” just dropped, and it looks even more fun than the last one. The first episode tells more about Deebo Samuel and George Kittle as individuals than fans ever knew before.

Yes, we’ve seen them giving interviews, but this time, Netflix got into their homes and seeped inside their personal lives to show who they exactly are. In the first episode, Netflix dived into Deebo Samuel’s personal life, and a few unknown details about the same were revealed. Especially his girlfriend Mahogany Jones, who tends to lead a rather private life.

Did you know the name “Deebo” comes from the classic movie “Friday”? The receiver revealed it in the episode and the scene shifts to him playing with his kid, Tyshun, who was named after the receiver himself. But that wouldn’t have been possible if he hadn’t met his significant other in his sophomore year of college. The “Little Deebo” changed his father’s life a lot as he went from being the “Deebo” in the movie Friday to a better football player and a better family man.

“Having a son changed Deebo a lot. Like, before he, like, really strictly just football,” said Mahogany and added, “I think our sone brings the soft side. He gets at me, like, ‘Don’t treat him like a baby,’ but then he be like ‘come here.’ I be like, “boy, like, what are you doing?”

But this is just one side of her that’s visible to the people on a worldwide platform. Who really is Mahogany Jones? Well, astonishingly, she has a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. However, she adopted a fast-paced life just like Deebo and became an influencer and is also an entrepreneur with a clothing line called Shades of Mahogany, which focuses on swimwear and loungewear and often shows it off to her 275k Instagram followers.

But these things are just the tip of the iceberg because there’s much more left to say.

Welcoming another life into the world can be scary and challenging. But the San Francisco 49ers WR1 knows how to handle challenges and ease the minds of others around him. In Overtime SZN’s The Deebo Samuel Documentary, his girlfriend opened up about what it was like breaking the pregnancy news to Samuel.

“When I found out I was pregnant I was nervous. I was scared, but he was so excited,” she explained. “He said ‘I want him to be my little Deebo. He needs to be just like me. I can’t wait to dress him. We gonna dress like twins.’” Well, they, in fact, are dressing like twins as you can see in the documentary on Netflix.

It might be a hyperbole to say now, but Tyshun may follow in his father’s footsteps in the future considering how Mahogany Jones and her son are there to support Deebo Samuel when he’s on the field. But it’s for a very good reason and it works like a lucky charm, at least Deebo Samuel thins so.

“Deebo says he wants him at every game. That’s going to be his good luck charm … so he feels like this year is going to be insane,” she said. “Like y’all are made for each other and when [Tyshun] sees Deebo … he don’t want to go to anybody else when Deebo gets around.” Mahogany’s presence in Deebo’s life has been very important as he tells her everything about his professional life too. Making an appearance in the Super Bowl 2020, he got a massive contract extension from the 49ers. A 3-year $75 million extension to be exact. Mahogany couldn’t believe what she was hearing.

“When he told me the offer, I’m like ‘You lying. No, you’re lying,’ and he was like, ‘No, I’m serious,’ and I’m like ‘I can’t believe it,’” she recalled. “I said, ‘We knew this day was coming,’ but to actually see it … we just both sat back and was like, ‘Wow.’ “

She’s close to Deebo’s family as well. Most of the time they gather around to play card games and Deebo’s competitive football side kicks in. “I love all of them. They feel like home,” she said.
