Do you think Whitney Sollom's support will elevate Luke Schoonmaker's game with the Cowboys?

Luke Schoonmaker may have spent last season playing behind Jake Ferguson, but with Ferguson out this week, it’s Schoonmaker’s time to shine. Playing in all 17 games last season for the Cowboys, he has a chance to prove he’s more than just a second-stringer. And in the NFL, when your number gets called, you’ve got to grab that chance. Think he’s ready for it? He has to be at this point.

While his football career was taking off at the University of Michigan, something else significant happened—he met his girlfriend, Whitney Sollom. It was in a typical fashion, too. Just like many football players found their beaus, Luke found his partner in college as well.

But timing is everything. Luke joined Michigan in 2018, and Whitney came in two years later. By the time she graduated in 2024, Schoonmaker was already playing pro ball. Too busy? Never for his girl. He celebrated her big day! Sure, it was the offseason, but it would not have been an issue still.

Luke couldn’t help but add some playful remarks to her Instagram graduation post. “Did you catch the cap?… please tell me you caught the cap,” he teased. His pride was obvious as he watched Whitney achieve her milestone. Not only watched, but celebrated.

But what do you think: Did Whitney catch her cap? Spoiler: She wasn’t just any student. Rather, a standout athlete herself, a Wolverine.

Who is Luke Schoonmaker’s GF Whitney Sollom?

What’s your perspective on:

Do you think Whitney Sollom's support will elevate Luke Schoonmaker's game with the Cowboys?

Have an interesting take?

Whitney Sollom is no stranger to athletic success. While Luke Schoonmaker dominated the gridiron, his girlfriend made her mark as a standout center for the Michigan Wolverines women’s basketball team. Known for her all-around skills—shooting, defending, rebounding—you name it, she was a force on the court. Before college, she played high school ball at Hartland, where she led her team to 12 championships. Oh, and she casually recorded two triple-doubles during her high school career. Talk about leaving it all on the court!

Luke and Whitney’s relationship began at the University of Michigan. The couple started dating in 2021, and since then, they have grown fonder of each other, and why not? If you follow Whitney on Instagram, you’ll see glimpses of their life together—whether it’s celebrating her graduation or cheering each other on through life’s big moments. Even on X, she tends to repost the posts about Luke. Be it from the Cowboys’ official handle itself or some other source.

But Whitney isn’t just about basketball; she’s got brains, too. Schoonmaker’s partner graduated studying General Economics at Michigan; she balanced academics with the demands of college sports—a true double threat. Now, as Luke Schoonmaker focuses on grabbing the opportunity in the 2024 season, he’d be looking for Whitney right beside him at every yard of the gridiron he makes.
