When your world changes upside down, you need someone to hold you through the gusty wind. For Keenan Allen, it was his wife. Ciandra Monique stood by her husband when the Los Angeles Chargers let go of him. Allen was a third-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, and he “tallied 904 receptions for 10,530 yards and 59 touchdowns, with six Pro Bowls during his tenure with the Chargers.”

He even accomplished a noteworthy feat in the Week 9 game of last year, where he reached 10,000 career receiving yards, becoming the 54th player in the league to do so. However, it seems it wasn’t enough for the franchise. Hence, they traded him for the Chicago Bears. As everything has changed for Allen, fortunately, his wife Monique supported him.

Keenan Allen’s wife is a soldier?

Being an NFL player is a tough task. But having a supporter like Ciandra Monique is even tougher. And hence, Keenan Allen is lucky to find his forever in his wife. Although it’s not known where the couple first met, what is known is they met each other in 2010 and soon started dating. However, seven years later, the professional athlete decided to take his relationship one step ahead. He proposed to his woman on her birthday on May 26, 2017, with a beautiful wedding ring by the pool. Allen captioned his Instagram post, “So I no it’s real.”

This made his now-wife emotional and shy. Well, who would reject such a beautiful surprise from his/her partner on a big day like this? So, the Greensboro native accepted his proposal in front of her friends and family at a beach party. The couple then exchanged vows on June 18, 2022, in a beautiful floral ceremony, attended by their family and friends in San Clemente, California. Together the couple share four kids–daughter Kamari, daughter Kaliyah, son Kado, and the youngest daughter Ka’oir.

In Allen’s words, Monique is his “queen, rock, and soldier.”

These adjectives tell how important Monique is for Keenan Allen, as she is his biggest admirer who supports her husband’s passion. This was also evident in one instance this year.

Ciandra Monique might be “still processing” the decision!

Keenan Allen’s family was still coming to terms with March’s unexpected events. The Chargers announced they were trading their star receiver to the Bears for a fourth-round draft pick. In response, Keenan Allen’s wife, Ciandra Monique, expressed gratitude to fans for their support over the past 11 years in an emotional Instagram message. She wrote, “Thank you to the fans we’ve encountered over the years. I’m still processing this but one thing for sure it was always TEAM KEENAN ALLEN.”

Bidding him goodbye, the Chargers too released a statement highlighting Allen’s significant contributions, stating, “What Keenan Allen has meant to the Chargers for more than a decade cannot adequately be expressed through mere words.” According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, “the Chargers had approached Allen, who was slated to be a $34.71 million cap hit, about a pay cut in the same month, which he declined.” This decision ultimately led to the surprising trade.

Additionally, this trade comes a month after Keenan Allen expressed his confidence in staying with the franchise in the future. Now with the Bears, the athlete will try to play similarly to his moniker – “Slayer.”
