Despite being in the final year of his contract with the Jets, unfortunately, he had to quit his job as the Jets’ general manager position. After firing the head coach Robert Saleh, Jets co-owner, Woody Johnson left shocked many with the announcement of the firing of the GM.

Allegedly, Douglas’s shocking firing just came after the Jets’ 28-27 tragic loss to the Indianapolis Colts. It indeed showcased that Joe Douglas could not last his impression at the Jets. Unfortunately, he even could not win a single season since he joined the team in 2019. At the moment, when the newly appointed Jets general manager selected his first draft,  Mekhi Becton, an Eagles guard as the first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, his wife and kids articulated their sentiments. It was really a touching yet warm moment for Douglas and his fans. During in discussion with an American sports journalist, Peter King, Douglas’s wife, Shannon revealed the touching experience of his first draft day.

When Shannon asked to keep their three children in the basement, away from his temporary draft chamber, her husband denied it. Seemingly, an ex-Bears director of college scouting wanted his children to experience it. Then Shannon agreed with his decision. In no time, she started making a video clip with her phone of her NFL hubby’s first pick — Mekhi Becton- from just outside the room.

At the moment, when Joe Douglas selected Becton as the 11th overall pick, apparently, Douglas’s kids were filled with emotions.  Douglas’s elder daughter, Addison even could not resist giving a warm hug to her dad. “I am so proud of you, Dad!,” she stated, gushing over with love. Emotional at the moment, the NFL dad also gave a lovely reply to his daughter. “All right, Addison, You’re making me misty here,” he remarked.
