Who knew Jim Harbaugh and the Los Angeles Chargers’ fate would be intertwined because of his wife Sarah Harbaugh? Jim and Sarah coming together was as inevitable as the younger Harbaugh brother becoming the Bolts’ head coach. But how did it all start and most importantly, who is Sarah Harbaugh?

Back in 2007, a strange tweet came out from the LA Chargers’ account saying, “so hungry need to find my wife and head to pf changs.” What seemed like a bizarre tweet from an innocent social media account handler was later dubbed as a homage to the Chargers’ former quarterback Jim Harbaugh.

A strange theory about Harbaugh and the Chargers

Later in 2013, Bleacher Report picked up the enigmatic tweet and revealed Jim and Sarah Harbaugh’s unusual union. “For example, Jim Harbaugh’s wife Sarah Harbaugh (formerly Sarah Feuerborn) met the then University of San Diego head coach in the parking lot of a PF Chang’s in 2006, just months before Harbaugh jetted to Stanford for their head coaching gig. Sarah was still living in Las Vegas, and Jim Harbaugh was recently divorced from ex-wife Miah. They were married January 5, 2008.” They’ve come so far together. She watched her husband in the Super Bowl and then win a championship with Michigan. But let’s rewind a bit to know a bit more about their life together.

It was 2006 and Harbaugh was the head coach at San Diego, taking over the college football with Andrew Luck. Harbaugh saw Sarah getting her takeout, went up to her, and asked for her number. Initially, he thought it was fake, but it was not. However, it took 9 calls before the Chargers HC got a response and the couple started dating. He met her family, got the stamp of approval, and married her in 2008. Now the couple has 4 children: two daughters named Addison and Katherine and two sons, Jack and John.

Sarah is from Kansas City and is the last one in the family of 11 children. Her adopted father Darryl unfortunately passed away in a plane crash when she was just 10. The two of them serve as co-chairs of the Victors for Michigan National Campaign Leadership Council for Mott and Von Voigtlander Hospital too.

Though a lot is not known about Sarah (Feuerborn) Harbaugh, it’s a known fact that she has a charitable heart. The couple donated $100,000 to United Way for Southeastern Michigan to help them fight against COVID-19. Obviously, Harbaugh was coaching the Michigan Wolverines that year. Speaking of Michigan, there’s an incident that happened that highlighted how ferocious of a Mother Sarah Harbaugh is.

In 2017, Harbaugh’s son Jack went viral, and not for the right reasons. Jack cried when he witnessed Wisconsin score an early touchdown against Michigan. Somehow, there was a video of it that went viral, and people started bullying Jack on the internet. Sarah didn’t sit back and watch mean-spirited people make fun of her son. So, she took to Twitter (now X) to defend him.

“Well, when you use a non-verified account with no history and then suddenly post multiple negative comments, they boot you out. You can re-sign in, but your identity will be out there given the way Twitter works, and that’s where I had to draw the line. I didn’t want this to come back on my family. I gave some pretty vicious comebacks that day, and I’ve never been on Twitter since,” Sarah Harbaugh imparted to The Brick Magazine.

Jim Harbaugh’s relationship timeline

Harbaugh met his first wife, Miah, while he was playing in the NFL. The couple was married from 1996-2006 and had three children together: Jay, James, and Grace. Jay Harbaugh eventually went on to become the assistant head coach at Michigan. There isn’t much known about their relationship at this point.

But who knew his life would change two years later just because of his visit to PF Changs? At some point in time, the Bolts HC even took his son to PF Changs for his birthday. When the Chargers elected Harbaugh to be their head coach in 2024, they embraced the incident by posting, “pf changs is so good,” on X. Maybe. back in 2007, they knew exactly what they were doing.
