Chantel Rostant has been a part of Jarod Mayo’s life since his time as a football player in college at Tennessee. This was prior to his selection by New England with the tenth overall pick in the 2008 NFL draft.

According to her Instagram bio, which also lists her as a creative cook, philanthropist, and floral and event designer, Chantel Mayo is a cosmetologist and haircare expert. She has also made appearances in music videos and got tiny acting gigs during the MySpace period. She has worked with Ed Hardy, Lady Divine Annual, and Ill Wear, among others. She also collaborated on the VH1 series Sheer’s Tears and Beauty, Milky Way, the Bronner Brothers, and singer Mario.

In 2010, the Mayo couple hosted the first-ever celebrity bowling event at Kings Dedham at Legacy Place. The yearly occasion benefited Pitching in for Kids, Inc., a foundation that gives grants to enhance the lives of children in New England. These days, the Boston Medical Center in the United States of America profits from the event.

Is Chantel Rosant the unsung hero behind Jerod Mayo's successful coaching career?

Have an interesting take?

In 2016, Rostant established The Brand Finale, an online children’s clothes retail business. She had a clientele of celebrities and a wealth of knowledge in the beauty industry. The self-described “momtrepreneur” has amassed over 71,000 Instagram followers. On July 23, 2024, the Mayo couple commemorated 17 years of marriage. Chantel Rostant’s entrepreneurial spirit and unwavering support have played a pivotal role in her husband’s journey, both on and off the field.

Chantel inspired Jarod Mayo to become a coach

If Chantel, his wife, hadn’t had such an impact, the 37-year-old might not have succeeded as an NFL coach. After being selected by New England with the 10th overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, Mayo spent eight seasons with the Patriots. Mayo joined Optum as a finance executive and progressed to the position of vice president of business development after he retired following the 2015 season.

“I was in the corporate world and we were actually on vacation and (Chantel) had been kind of like sprinkling in the idea because I was traveling so much in business. ‘You know, maybe you should get back into coaching,'” Mayo said in an interview.

“When I retired, Bill asked me to coach and I was like: ‘No, I kind of need a break,’ and I wanted to do something different — but she was very instrumental,” Mayo added. “Coach (Belichick), honestly, had her — I forgot where we were, at dinner or something — and he was talking to her in the corner. I’m like: ‘Well, there it is: sabotage.’ And she gave me her blessing, the kids gave me their blessing and the rest is history.”

Since joining the Patriots in March 2019 to coach inside linebackers, Mayo has been grateful for his wife’s support during his five years as an NFL coach, especially when it comes to the amount of time he needs to put in to succeed.

“During the season, I’m with the coaches and players more than I am with my family,” Mayo said. “But if you have someone that is [understanding], you can do a lot better job on a day-to-day basis.”

After more than ten years of marriage, Jerod and Chantel Mayo have four children: a son named Jerod Jr. and three girls, Chya, Chyanne, and Chylo. Jerod Mayo is the first former player to lead the Patriots as head coach and the team’s fifteenth head coach overall.
