“He just inspires me. I get joy out of how happy he is to come and watch me play. He keeps me going. When I’m out there on the field, I know he’s happy to see me,” Jamison Crowder stated in 2019. It indeed demonstrated his heartwarming bond and deep affection for his brother, Jamaris Crowder. And, with the support of his young brother and parents Brenda and James, Jamison Crowder is moving forward in his career.

Transitioning from basketball to football, he stunned everyone with his impressive playing skills. From Duke University to being drafted by the Commanders in 2015, he played for many NFL teams. After playing 4 seasons with the Washington, he played for the Jets (2019-21), Bills (2022), and Giants (2023). Later, he re-signed the one-year $1,310,000 contract with the Washington in March. But his successful trajectory is incomplete without mentioning his parents and brother.

Commanders WR’s brotherly bond with his younger brother, Jamaris, is a well-known factor amongst NFL fans. Jamaris was born with Down Syndrome and nonverbal on Dec. 7, 2002. But Jamison and his family treat him as a normal child. During an interview with the ACC Network in May 2015, Crowder disclosed his younger brother’s condition.

When Crowder’s parents welcomed Jamison, he was just 9 years old and was excited for his little brother. But, being young, he didn’t really understand, because he always wanted a little brother. “We’re aware of his condition, but we treat him as if he doesn’t have any disabilities,” Jamison stated.

Well, despite his inability to comprehend the circumstances, Jamison continued to be the big brother he had always aspired to be. “He’s my little brother. We showed a lot of love for Jamaris and we still do now,” Jamison reflected. “We always treat him just like he’s another child, the way my family treats me. We never looked at Jamaris any differently. We just always treated him the same way.” That’s pure love.

And, impressively, the NFL WR remained with him as the most supportive big brother during his entire childhood. “You don’t want to neglect anyone just because they have a disability, especially my little brother,” Jamison remarked. “It’s just things any big brother would do for a little brother, just to let them see something, experience something. It’s very important for Jamaris to have that love,” he further said. It indeed demonstrated his adoration for his younger brother. Additionally, Commanders WR and Jamaris have an emotional connection that goes beyond words.

Jamison Crowder’s relationship with younger brother transcends beyond words

Jamison’s younger brother is his biggest cheerleader and their relationship even went deeper through sports. Interestingly, sports became a new medium of communication in their relationship. After witnessing Jamison bounce a basketball during high school games, Jamaris ultimately learned how to do it himself.

Even Jamaris never fails to cheer out for his NFL brother from the stands. He often attends his game with his mom, Brenda, and dad, James. Previously, when Jamison was playing for Monroe High School in North Carolina, head coach, David Cutcliffe accompanied  Crowder’s family for a basketball game. During that time even David could not resist praising Crowder’s brother’s heartfelt bond.

Jamison shed light on Jamaris’s powerful presence at that game in November 2015. “To watch Jamaris watch his brother, the intensity in his eyes, you could see the joy, although he can’t express it to anyone,” he asserted. “I just knew I was in the presence of more than one special person at that time. It was that powerful,” he further added.

Jamaris has enjoyed most of the home games of his elder brother. He only missed an ACC championship game in 2013 due to illness. “It was cool with Jamaris coming out and to be able to see me play college football and experience all the different games and everything like that,” he recalled. “That was really good for him, helping him grow and develop. When he came to the games, I’d always make sure Jamaris and my family were taken care of. I thought it was a good experience for Jamaris and my family comes to my home games and always brings Jamaris along,” he stated further. Apart from his brother, his parents and wife, Alexis Crowder are also his greatest supporters, motivating him constantly to achieve new heights.
