“Dear Dad, Remember when you sacrificed your retirement years & career to help provide a better education for me? I owe my all to you ’cause, without you, I’m another statistic,” Jameis Winston earlier expressed his feelings for his dad, Antonor Winston. It indeed showcased his deep gratitude for him. Seemingly, with his dad and mom, Loretta Winston’s immense support, he defied all the odds and emerged as the most prominent player in the league.

Since the Buccaneers drafted him as the 1st round pick in 2015, he stunned many with his awe-inspiring accomplishments. From earning the Pro Bowl selection in 2015 to becoming the passing yards leader in 2019, he nailed it in the NFL world. Currently serving as the Browns QB, the former Florida State player also played for the Saints for four seasons. Seemingly, he made all this possible just because of the strong backing of his parents.

Impressively, just like her NFL son, Loretta caught attention for her sporting skills in a middle school race. She amazingly defeated Vonetta Flowers, an American bobsledder and 2002 Olympic gold medalist in school.

Apart from her athletic career, she is a supportive and loving mom of her two sons, Jameis and Jonah. Earlier, Loretta gained the limelight for giving Jameis the cute nickname. Allegedly, she used to call him “little J-boo” and it evolved into his nickname name “Jaboo“.

Last year, the NFL Mother-son bond went viral. On Mother’s Day, The Heisman Trophy winner gave a heartfelt tribute to his mom through an Instagram post. “Happy Mother’s day my beautiful momma! Thank you for sacrificing, encouraging, loving, challenging, and so much more like putting up with me and even carrying me around for 9months. Love you mama!” he mentioned in his post caption. It indeed showcased his gratefulness for his mom.

Jameis also shares a close bond with his dad, Antonor Winston, who was also involved in multiple sports. Currently serving for traffic maintenance in Hueytown, he is a former football, and basketball player.

Additionally, just like his wife, he was also a runner there. Before playing for the Hueytown, he also played for the Michigan State as a cornerback out of high school. Apparently, his college prevented his dad from Michigan State, as he failed as a defensive back at Jacksonville State.

Though he failed to achieve his NFL aspirations, he guided his son like a professional coach since his childhood. Seemingly for his mentorship, Jameis Winston is also grateful for him. Back in 2020 on Father’s Day, he demonstrated his deep regard for his dad while wishing him on this day through an IG post. “Happy Father’s Day to the greatest teacher, coach, leader, role model I’ve ever had,” Winston, 30 wrote in his post caption.

It truly demonstrates that with his parent’s support, Jameis Winston achieved his career trajectory. Despite many adversities on his way, his parents kept him pushing into the limelight.

Jameis Winston’s dad never shied away from showcasing his unwavering support to his NFL son. In 2012, Jameis allegedly got into legal trouble while at Florida State. His dad fought to keep him grounded. “How do I know my son was innocent? Because I raised him,” he asserted.

Not only this, but the Walter Camp Award winner’s dad also gained the spotlight when he spoke up about his son’s security. During his Florida State days in April 2014, Jameis was caught shoplifting crab legs.

After this incident, his dad showcased his concern about his 24/7 supervision. “He’s supposed to have somebody around him 24/7. He a Heisman Trophy winner so [he’s] definitely not supposed to be by [himself],” his dad added. And after this, FSU athletic director Stan Wilcox took immediate action. Florida State provided extra security to give Jameis all the “resources that he needed to thrive as a student and an athlete.”

After a four-day suspension from the baseball team, young athlete Jameis sent a touching message, “I know what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger actually being suspended was the best days of my life!” That showcases their bond and reflects how his parents have supported him in every instance. And, the NFL quarterback never forgets to credit them for his current situation.
