“No better first photo than a pic with my family!” that is what Jake Matthews wrote when posting his first photo on Instagram. While the standout offensive tackle for the Atlanta Falcons comes from a legendary football lineage. Belonging to a family of footballers, he’s the son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Bruce Matthews.

And since the NFL runs in his blood, the OT created a record for becoming the left tackler with the longest active streak. Drafted 6th overall in 2014, Jake has proven his durability and skill, starting every game since his rookie season. He’s the backbone in protecting quarterbacks like Matt Ryan and anchoring the Falcons’ offensive line.

And while the Jacobs Blocking Trophy winner has been making waves for his game, he has been in the news for his personal life too! On Sunday, Matthews shared the news of a new addition to his family. The OT and his wife, Meggi, welcomed their bundle of joy, posting, “Gracie Ann Matthews joined us September 26th at 1:49am! The most perfect addition to our family, so blessed to receive another precious gift from God. We love you Gracie girl!!!”

While the player enters his 11th NFL season, the blessed event has made his focus more on just the game. And the OT is not just preparing for matchups now—he’s also spending time on late-night feedings and spending time with his two kids. And as per the NFL player, parenting might be tougher than blocking the defensive players! While the NFL player is happy to welcome the little paws, who is his wife, Meggi Matthews?

Who is Meggi Matthews?

Meggi Matthews also has a sports connection. No, she isn’t an athlete, but a Sports Broadcaster at the Vanguard Sports Group. And her love story with Jake Matthews isn’t new, she started dating the OT back in college. The college sweethearts tied the knot on May 13, 2021, and the journalist shared a glimpse of the wedding on her Instagram account. Meggi’s journey to officially become Matthews started in October 2020, when Jake popped the question to his girlfriend. She shared the good news on her IG with a carousel of photos from the engagement and wrote, “Changing my last name to MATTHEWS!!! I have prayed for you for so long and you are everything I could ever want and more. We are ENGAGED!!!!!” The Sports Broadcaster just couldn’t wait to spend her entire life with Matthews. “I love you so much Jake!” she added. While Meggi flaunted her engagement ring, the fans couldn’t stop gushing over how stunning it was.

Meggi and Jake are just like two pods in a pea. While Jake loves to play, Meggi loves to know more about his game. And she‘s often spotted on the sidelines, cheering on her partner. Through her conversations, viewers get to see the game from the players’ perspective—both on and off the field.

Meggi’s social media presence keeps offering a sneak peek into their lovely family life, with Jake occasionally making appearances. Despite Jake’s relatively low profile online, Meggi keeps fans updated on their milestones, from welcoming their children to sharing special moments from Jake’s games. The couple share a small world of two kids: Beckett and Gracie. While Gracie was born on September 26, 2024, Beckett was born on November 12, 2022.
