When you grow up, you always try to find a person you can call yours. And there are billions of people on this planet. Among all these, you have to find that one person, somebody you can call home. Such is the story of former Saints QB Drew Brees, who met the love of his life in his younger years and now has a beautiful family with her.
Having met almost 25 years ago, Drew and his wife have been together ever since, serving major couple goals. Drew Brees’ love story is like that one comforting rom-com movie you’d want to watch with your partner during Christmas. You know, that one favorite Christmas movie we all have. Drew met Brittany Dudchenko in the cold winters of January 1999, when the ex-NFL player was celebrating his 20th birthday. Although he wasn’t exactly in his right senses after having about 17 shots, Brittany’s face was etched in his mind and heart. As soon as Drew saw her, he felt butterflies in his stomach. Doesn’t it feel like a movie?
“ I made a real fool of myself when I first met her. It was when I was a sophomore. It was my 20th birthday and I’d had about 17 shots and put my foot in my mouth,” shared the former QB with ESPN in 2002. After getting over the embarrassment of his birthday shenanigans, Drew finally worked up the courage to ask Brittany out six months later. The duo, who were both at Purdue University in Indiana at the time, even let their friends tag along on their first movie date.
“He asked me out, and all my girlfriends wanted to come with….So he brought some of his football friends and we went to the movies. And his friends started throwing Gummy Bears at the screen,” recalled Brittany in the same interview with ESPN. The couple got married in 2003 when Drew was playing for the San Diego Chargers. Since then, they’ve been together like peanut butter and jelly.

After nine months, little Baylen became a big brother to Bowen. The two sweethearts who once threw gummy bears at theater screens were now parents to two boys. For Drew, Brittany has always been his biggest supporter and cheerleader. She’s never missed a Saints game. They both are like that one-power couple who makes everyone around them believe in love. In 2012, the couple welcomed their third boy, Callen. At that time, Drew was busy with his football duties with the Saints, so Baylen and Bowen stepped up to help mom Brittany take care of their little brother.
In 2014, Callen joined his older brothers Baylen and Bowen as they took on their new roles as big brothers when their little sister was born. The couple named their daughter Rylen, and she completed the family. Doesn’t it just warm your heart to see two teens fall in love, get married, and build a life together? After retiring from football, Drew Brees has been soaking in all the moments with his beautiful family. Honestly, their family looks like something out of a dream.
