To play football at the highest level, you’ve dedicated your life to it. By the time you’re in college, you’re definitely dead set on it. That’s how it was for Demarcus Robinson, who played for the University of Florida from 2013 to 15. It’s stressful to manage a full course load and also practice all the time for football, so a lot of kids abandon their final year of college and opt to enter the NFL draft instead. It’s risky, but if it pays off, you’ve made your future. That’s what Demarcus Robinson did in 2016.
He didn’t have a lot of support from then head coach at UoF, John McElwain. When speaking of Robinson’s decision to leave, McElwain said “I don’t get it.” Not really what you want to hear from the man who’s been molding you for the game. Luckily, Robinson had other support at the time, both from his family and from his girlfriend, Davontay Moore. They met at university, and she seemed to be a year ahead of him, graduating in 2015 with a BSc in Recreation, Parks, and Tourism. Maybe her leaving uni was the reason Robinson decided to skip his final year? It’s not a matter of public record, and we can’t tell.

What we do know is that their relationship has since gone from strength to strength. The couple have a daughter together, Thunder, born in March 2020, now 4 years old and a bundle of joy. But wait, there’s more! A post on Robinson’s Instagram early this October confirmed that the couple are expecting a new baby boy, though they haven’t revealed anything about a name or an expected date of birth.

Meanwhile, Davontay Moore might have to put her influencer’s career on a brief hiatus. With 16k followers and a connection to a popular sports personality, she’s a lucrative advertising partner. Earlier in 2024, she had some collaborations with hair care brands, flaunting her absolutely flawless curls in the process. Recently, her posts have become much more family-oriented, featuring her beautiful daughter and her husband. It’s clear Moore’s a very religious person too, though she doesn’t flaunt it condescendingly. She’s just firm in her faith and finds certainty in the calm it brings her.

Well, with one child with his long-term girlfriend (nearly a decade!) and another on the way, things are looking bright. Robinson has a purpose in life and will be looking to provide for his family. He’s been bouncing around a bit over the last few years, having been in 3 different teams since 2021. He joined the Los Angeles Rams in 2023 on a 1-year contract for $1.165 million, and they liked him enough to extend his contract this year for $4 million.

Though he only started in 4 of the 16 games he played in last year, this year they’ve had him starting every Rams game so far. This is a clear sign he’s earned their trust as a reliable player. At 30-years-old, he still has a few good years left in him, and becoming a fixture with the Rams will ensure he’ll keep getting game time. In 6 games, he has caught 13 passes for 198 yards and one touchdown, which is decent. He might try to get more action in coming games to draw the spotlight to himself. Only time will tell.
Right now, it’s one game at a time, with a focus on family.
