The favorite athletic couple of NFL-WNBA is no longer together. Darren Waller and Kelsey Plum have reportedly filed for divorce after one year of marriage. The duo became fan favorites and were often seen supporting each other in their sports pursuits.

According to People, the couple filed a divorce petition on April 23. Waller met the two-time WNBA champion on a podcast and tied the knot in March 2023 in a private ceremony at GreenGale Farms in Las Vegas. While Waller was ready to start a new phase of their relationship with his newly wedded wife, he got transferred from the Raiders to the Giants and had to move to New York.

The couple was in a long-distance marriage, which now seems to have come to an end. Plum posted a heartfelt message on her X account shortly after the news dropped. She expressed that she was “devastated” but chose to save her story for a later day. She ended by referencing the Bible verse Philippians 1:6, which reads, “He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” Waller seems to be single at the moment and has ventured into music to channel his post-split feelings.

I’d never written a song from the perspective of someone else until this. There’s something extremely valuable (and quite humbling lol) about putting yourself in the shoes of those you have been intimate with and taking an honest look at yourself.”

The music video features the Giants player alongside an actress who is meant to represent his WNBA wife. the video starts with Waller saying, “You know in life, it’s hard to love, it’s hard to be free, it’s hard to give all of your soul, have your heart broken in return.” It also had enactments of the parts from the couple’s relationship, including cute moments and disagreements.
