Darrell Baker Jr.’s stars aligned perfectly when he met the mother of his son or, more like, when he slid into the DM’s of a young woman whose photo happened to pop up in his X timeline. Darrell Baker Jr.‘s NFL journey has been a rough ride.

He went undrafted in the 2022 NFL Draft and then the Cardinals released him shortly after signing him. And when he finally found a home with the Colts he ended up getting benched several times. And after two seasons, even the Colts let him go. In the middle of all the chaos, he met Jade Falcon, who always had his back through the mess. Jade and Darrell first connected on X when Baker was playing his last season at Georgia Southern University. Jade’s picture randomly popped up on his feed, and let’s just say it made his heart race. He took no time to hit the follow button, and Falcon followed him back as if it was meant to be.

Even though Darrell kept asking, Jade kept putting off the dates he planned. It wasn’t until months of talking and FaceTiming that she finally agreed to meet. She would refer to him as “

the guy from Dallas” when talking to her friends. Little did she know, one day she would be calling him the father of her child. The Titans cornerback had a full itinerary planned for their first date. He wasn’t taking any chances.

On the field, he might seem like this big, powerful guy, but deep down, he’s a total softie. After a sweet day out, the couple was having dinner at a restaurant when Darrell did something romantic. Along with the ice cream, a card showed up that read, “Will you be my girlfriend?” Falcon said yes, and the rest is history.

When did Darrell Baker welcome fatherhood?

2023 was one of the most happening years for Darrell. He became a dad, proposed to his fiancée, and dealt with some career struggles with the Colts. Besides the NFL, ups and downs, he’s been fully embracing fatherhood. The CB was on a plane to Germany with the Colts squad when Falcon was in the hospital, ready to give birth to their baby. He was FaceTiming her the whole time, and as soon as he heard their baby cry, tears started rolling down his cheeks. That’s got to hit you in the feels, right?

With the baby came the responsibilities, and Darrell felt the need to be more stable in his career. Like anyone else, he wanted to give his family the best life. But life threw more curveballs his way. Just a few days after his son was born, the Colts benched him. He was crushed, but Falcon was there, supporting him every step of the way. He could see that his future with the team was somewhat uncertain.

Then came what he feared: earlier this year, in August, the Colts waived the CB. But, like they say, after a rough night, the sun always comes up. The Tennessee Titans claimed him soon after, leaving him on cloud nine. As he finds a new home with the Titans, Darrell is also preparing for the next chapter of his life. The Titans’ cornerback is all set to marry his fiancée and Dallas’s mother soon. Reports say the couple will exchange vows in January 2025.
