It was February 7, 2024, a day after Dan Quinn gave an interview for the head coach role in Washington Commanders. That day, he anxiously waited for the call, and in order to relax him, his wife, Stacey Quinn, suggested a drive. Then after a few more hours, Quinn finally received the call for the role. This news brought him immense happiness, and to celebrate, he hugged his wife for all the support she had given him.

Dan Quinn and his wife Stacey Quinn’s relationship history goes far back to the 1990s. They first met at Salisbury University, where he was a defensive lineman from 1990 to 1993 and a star player of track & field. According to the University’s official website, the couple reportedly met each other during this time. But an interesting twist is that their love story didn’t start when they first met.

Yes! It took about a couple of years for Dan to pull together the courage to give Stacey a call. This year, after he was hired as the HC of the Commanders, former Falcons HC, Dan said that “he mustered up the courage some 29 years ago to give her a call, and she’s been his “ride or die” ever since.” Years after meeting in the DMV area, the couple has now been married for over 20 years.

Beyond being the wife of head coach Dan Quinn, Stacey Quinn is also an athletic trainer, who has strong Catholic faith. In addition to that, she is the biggest supporter of her husband, which is evident from Dan’s statement: “She has been with me on this football life and its ups and downs and this absolute awesome life that we share.”

Hence, when the couple was welcomed by Washington this year, coach Quinn said, “I spent a good deal of my 20s here. I went to Salisbury, about two hours south of here. The best part of that was I met my wife Stacey.” Continuing his speech further, Dan Quinn, who is also known as the players’ coach, expressed his love for the place, saying, “Stacey and I … We know where we are, we know who you are and we know what this franchise meant to you and what it will take to get it back to where it deserves to be.”

This shows how much love they have for each other as well as for Washington & their University. And that’s why, in 2021, they gave $200,000 to the University, in support of “We Are SU: The Campaign for Salisbury University.” They even “created three separate Quinn Family Endowments for: Football Excellence, Track & Field Excellence, and Athletic Training Excellence.”

With this foundation, they offer free game tickets and parking to families of service members who are in the U.S. In addition to that, the couple also sends special care packages to soldiers stationed overseas. But why did they choose to work for the military?

Well, the answer to this is that Dan has a deep connection to the military. He has met many dedicated soldiers and has several family members who have served in this service. Moreover, Dan’s father-in-law, which means Stacey’s dad, Larry Haines, was also in the Navy. Hence, having that patriotism in his blood, Dan has earlier said that if he hadn’t pursued coaching, he might have chosen to serve his country too.
