Former Bengals and New York Jets defensive end Carl Lawson is making waves by gaining attention as a top-of-the-rotation NFL player. Reportedly, after the Dallas Cowboys defensive end, Sam Williams suffered a season-ending ACL and MCL tear, Lawson became the Cowboys’ first choice as his replacement. Lawson has already expressed his desire to sign with Dallas by tweeting a “star” emoji. He competed in six games last season with the Jets but had to miss the majority of the season’s games due to injury. During these adverse times, he never gave up, thanks to the strong support of his Olympian partner, Rachel Dincoff.

Just like her NFL boyfriend, Rachel Dincoff is also a distinguished track and field Olympic athlete. The 31-year-old athlete is a renowned discus thrower. Born to parents John Dincoff and Linda Beck, she attended DeKalb High School in Illinois. Since then, she has inspired many with her spectacular discus-throwing skills. In 2012, she earned the eighth position in the USATF Junior Outdoor Championships.

After gaining acknowledgment as the best thrower in the state, she competed for Auburn University. During her collegiate athletic career, Rachel clinched the Southeastern Conference championship title twice. Not only this, she showcased her dominance by adding an All-America honor to her accolades every year as an Auburn student-athlete in 2014, 2015, and 2016. Additionally, in 2016, she claimed 11th place in the NCAA DI Championships in discus.

Later, as a US Track & Field athlete, she went on to achieve her Olympic glory. The discus record of the former NM State student-athletes program, with a mark of 183-1, remains unbeaten, making her an Auburn standout athlete.

Continuing her dominance, she added an Olympian gem to her already impressive resumé. Dincoff became the first female track and field Olympian from Auburn University to represent the United States. After finishing third in the 2020 Olympic Trials, she took part in the women’s discus throw competition at the Tokyo Summer Olympic Games in 2020.

Undoubtedly, everything was going smoothly for Dincoff as she continued to gain momentum until fate dealt her an unexpected setback. In 2023, she suffered a serious Achilles tendon rupture while practicing. This injury, known for its long and difficult recuperation procedure, kept her away from several track and field competitions that season.

Dincoff expressed her pain at not being able to compete due to the major health setback, saying, “The hardest part of the injury so far has been coming to terms with the fact that I will not be competing this season. I know I can physically endure a lot, but it was hard to give up the idea of competing this year.” However, during her recovery period, she kept updating her fans by sharing the details of her recovery journey on her social media accounts, inspiring many with her optimism.

After her third surgery in December 2023, she shared pictures detailing the treatment of her torn Achilles tendon injury. She captioned the post, “I am relieved that this third surgery was the right decision. After opening up my Achilles, it was clear that my body was not accepting the cadaver tendon (allograph) from my second surgery, and we proceeded with using my biology for the revision. The cadaver was removed, and my tendon was reinforced with my FDL and hamstring tendons.”

And now, with an eye on the Paris Olympics, Dincoff has been working out rigorously to make an impressive comeback. On July 11, she posted her workout video with the inspiring caption, “Beyond happy to be doing more than calf raises.”

However, during tough times, her NFL partner, Carl Lawson, stood by her, and they have been in a healthy relationship for years. Allegedly, Lawson had love at first sight when he first saw Rachel at an Auburn Fellowship of Christian Athletes meeting in 2013, and since then, he has not gotten over his love for her.

The unbreakable bond between Carl Lawson and Rachel Dincoff

Despite staying miles apart, the athletic couple’s mutual understanding and chemistry keep them motivated in their athletic careers. Rachel often makes her charming presence felt at Lawson’s games. She even celebrated her last birthday by cheering for her NFL boyfriend.

Her 30th birthday was particularly special as it occurred on game day. Taking to her official Instagram handle, the USA track and field athlete shared multiple posts showing game-day glimpses. Along with sharing a snap with her NFL beau, she described her last birthday as her “Best birthday ever 🥰🎂🥳✨🎉.”

It was memorable as Lawson’s team, the New York Jets, clashed against the Washington Commanders at MetLife Stadium in December 2023. The Jets clinched the triumph against the Commanders with a 30-28 score. She also demonstrated her excitement for having her 2023 birthday on game day by posting another caption, “Birthday + Game Day. Thank you for all of the birthday wishes and fun! Made my birthday feel very special.”
