Cade Otton’s been a reliable tight end for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers since he was first drafted in the 4th round in 2022. If you look at the man, you’ll see a small mountain – he stands at 6’5″ and about 247 lbs. But he’s young, and he’s fast on the field, and he’s shown what he can do over the last two seasons.
However, playing the field isn’t the only place where he’s been gaining ground, though. Even before he signed on with the Buccaneers, Cade Otton had started his journey as a family man. Cade proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Sierra Otton, in October 2020, and tied the knot just three months later in January 2021. Let’s learn more about his wife.

Who is Sierra Otton?
Sierra and Cade met each other at the age of 12 in Tumwater, Washington, where they grew up. The meeting happened at an 8th-grade basketball game, of all things, but they started off as friends. It was after they attended the homecoming dance together that they started dating. Truth be told, they’ve been inseparable ever since.

In October 2020, while he was still playing for the Washington Huskies, Cade Otton asked Sierra to marry him. And the way he did it proves he’s somewhat of a romantic. On a rainy Tuesday evening, down on one knee, at a viewing area above the Snoqualmie Falls. After all, the couple had survived the roller-coaster of high school and never-ending years of long distance in college. And less than three months later, the wedding bells were ringing, but you already knew that.

In more recent news, just earlier this year, on June 27, the couple brought in a new baby girl to the world. Named Tenille Dawn Otton, the baby’s name has special significance. Tenille is a name with Gaelic origins, referring to a woman who brings light. Paired with Dawn, that becomes “the Bringer of the Dawn Light.” A name with great promise, no doubt.

What lies in store for the Ottons?
After being drafted in the 4th round in 2022, Cade would sign a 4-year contract with the Buccaneers. It was a $4,493,944 contract, with a $833,944 signing bonus, and a $833,944 guarantee, which he has long since surpassed. Injury-free since 2021, the 25-year-old looks set to have a healthy career ahead of him. Cade Otton is an uncontroversial, seemingly loving husband, and a solid player to have in any roster.

Though his contract isn’t up for negotiation until 2026, it’s never a bad time to make a positive impression on team management and the fans. After a fairly unimpressive Week 1 performance in the Buccaneers’ win over the Washington Commanders, Cade Otton will look to make good on his team’s investment in tonight’s game against the Detroit Lions.
Though it’s an away game, you can bet Sierra and baby Tenille will be cheering him on from back home.
