San Francisco 49ers ‘ assistant head coach Brandon Staley has a phenomenal support system! And, that is none other than his wife, Amy Staley. Playing as a QB at the University of Dayton, he began his coaching career at Northern Illinois University (NIU) in 2006. And, it was here that he met his wife. Professionally, his coaching trajectory is quite impressive. He has held positions at Hutchinson Community College, Tennessee, James Madison, and John Carroll before joining the NFL in 2017 with the Bears.
Switching to Broncos, Rams, and Chargers, he was however fired by the Chargers in 2023. However, his wife still supported him through the tough times. Now, with the 49ers, he is helping the team excel.

Who is Brandon Staley’s wife?
Amy Ward Staley shares a rich athletic legacy. Being born on October 31, 1985, in Sycamore, Illinois, she attended the Northern Illinois University (NIU). It was here that she perfected balanced academics and athletics. Majoring in education, she even played volleyball at NIU. However, facing a foot injury, she had to reorient her journey.

Later, she did her graduation from John Carroll University and took up a job there as an instructor. However, due to Brandon’s NFL demands, requiring him to be on the move, she decided to be a stay-at-home mom. But, across her professional journey of seven years, she has taught in six school districts including Illinois, Kansas, Tennessee, Ohio, and Florida. Given her background in education, she now participates in philanthropic work, vouching for the cause of literacy.

A love story of bonding and endless support
Amy and Brandon’s love story dates back to 2007, unfolding on the campus of NIU. Around this time, Brandon was working as a graduate assistant coach for NIU football. And Amy was on the cusp of earning her degree. However, fate took a chance. Amy recalled the conversation she had with him, stating, “When I met him, he said, ‘I’m going to be a coach in the NFL.’ And so, I said, ‘That’s really great,” in the MYNIU article published by Eva Richards. With all seriousness, Brandon had stated his intentions.

When Brandon was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma diagnosis while he was 24, for three semesters he had to undergo radiation treatments in Chicago. Amy was unaware of this. She recalled, “When I would see him… he would have his head down and go straight upstairs… I didn’t know it at the time, but he was coming back from radiation treatments.” However, after his cancer treatments, he sought to be on a mission to be the best version of himself. And, he had Amy by his side as his rock.

Tying knots in 2011, the couple shared a beautiful family. They have three sons together, Colin, Will, and Grant. Brandon is deeply appreciative of his wife’s support. In December 2023, he remarked, “She supported the vision I had in my career, and I credit the strength of my marriage before all this NFL stuff happened.” Amy, on the other hand, is drawn to his immense willpower. “He has an undeniable will,” she stated.
Moving around with family hasn’t been easy, but the Staley’s are handling it very well. Amy shed light on it, “Our kids have lived in five states, and they jump right in, wherever we go. We have really worked hard to show them the benefit of being brave and daring.” And, with whatever comes their way, including the NFL’s ups and downs, Amy never fails to support her better half helping him navigate the crisis!
