Behind every great NFL kicker, there’s a woman ready to boot him into shape. For Dallas Cowboys’ sensation Brandon Aubrey, that woman is Jenn Aubrey – his high school sweetheart, biggest cheerleader, and the mastermind behind his career-changing pivot from soccer to football.

The Aubreys’ love story kicked off at Notre Dame, where both were standout athletes. Brandon was busy bending it like Beckham on the soccer field, while Jenn was causing a racket on the lacrosse team. Their shared passion for sports wasn’t just a conversation starter; it was the foundation of a relationship that would withstand the ups and downs of professional athletics.

Jenn isn’t just a typical NFL WAG on the sidelines. This Notre Dame alum graduated with a double major in Finance and Chinese, proving she’s got brains to match her athletic brawn. Today, she’s soaring high as a Pilot and Aircraft Dispatcher, giving a whole new meaning to the phrase “power couple.”

The Aubreys made it official on January 4, 2019, tying the knot surrounded by family and friends. But their fairy tale hit turbulence in December of that same year when Jenn underwent a significant brain surgery. Brandon, ever the supportive husband, took to Instagram to update fans: “Post-Op All smiles. I couldn’t be more proud of the strength my wife maintained through all of the physical and emotional pain of the past couple of months!”

As Jenn recovered, she pulled off a play that would make any NFL coach proud. Noticing Brandon’s struggle with his soccer career, she suggested he give American football a shot. It was a Hail Mary that paid off big time. Brandon recalled on The Dan Patrick Show, “My wife, we were sitting there watching football like we did every Sunday. She mentioned to me in passing, ‘I think you could do that.’ Having been a professional athlete, I thought she was crazy.”

That crazy idea led Brandon from software engineering to the USFL’s Birmingham Stallions, where he nailed 32 of 37 field goals. The Cowboys took notice, signing him in 2023. What followed was a rookie season for the record books: 36 of 38 field goals made, including an NFL-record 35 straight to open his career, and a whopping 99 touchbacks.

Jenn’s influence goes beyond that initial suggestion. She’s been Brandon’s constant through the highs of Pro Bowl selection and the lows of preseason jitters.

In 2023, Brandon admitted as per ESPN, “Last year, definitely a ball of stress. Just kind of going about my job and don’t really know — I haven’t done it before — and I’m not sure exactly what I’m supposed to look like at this level.”

Fast forward to 2024, and Brandon’s comfort level has skyrocketed. So much so that Coach Mike McCarthy even considered letting him attempt a 72-yard field goal in a preseason game. While that didn’t pan out, Brandon did get a shot at a 65-yarder – just a bit wide and a hair short, but impressive nonetheless.

The Aubreys’ teamwork reached a new level in August 2024 when Brandon left the preseason game early to be with Jenn for the birth of their child. It’s clear that while Brandon’s kicking game is on point, his priorities are right where they should be – with his family.

As the 2024 season kicks off, Brandon’s approach is refreshingly grounded. “I don’t know if I’m even going to worry about what I did last year at this point,” he said. “I’m zero-for-zero this year, [so] just go out there and try to make one kick at a time, keep that same mentality that I need to earn my job each and every week.” With Jenn by his side, fans can expect more record-breaking performances from this dynamic duo.
