Do you believe having a partner who understands the sports world gives Austin Corbett an edge on the field?

The Carolina Panthers might finally be turning things around for their campaign. They were dealt two crushing defeats in the first two weeks of the season. 47-10 against the New Orleans Saints and 26-3 against the Los Angeles Chargers made them look like a joke. The 36-22 win against the Las Vegas Raiders was a big step up, though not against the strongest team. Tomorrow brings a chance for the Panthers to secure some momentum and get things back on track with a win against the Cincinnati Bengals. And Panthers center Austin Corbett will be in the thick of it.

His position at the center is new this year, he’d been a right guard before. But he’s taken to it like a duck to water. The man’s a natural. It’s possible he owes his versatility to his proficiency in juggling work and family. He is a devoted family man after all. Here’s more about his beloved wife Madison.

Who is Madison Corbett?

Madison Corbett, née Morrell, first met Austin at the University of Nevada, where they are both alumni of the School of Public Health. Madison was a budding athlete herself at the time. Where Austin was an offensive lineman for the Nevada Wolf Pack football team, Madison played for the Nevada Wolf Pack volleyball team. She played for the team as an outside hitter, and one of her mentors called her “one of the best players in program history.”

Her rookie and sophomore seasons were already pretty good, but it was in her junior year that she broke out. She had a personal best of 31 kills in a match against Wyoming, besides breaking other Wolf Pack single-season records. She finished her senior year on a high, 7th all-time in kills and 6th in points for the Pack. Though she never played Volleyball competitively again, she does coach on-and-off these days.

Have an interesting take?

She graduated in May of 2017 with a degree in community health science with an emphasis on public health. She attempted to pivot into nursing school the next year but sadly had to leave that dream behind.

When did Austin Corbett & Madison Corbett get married?

The very day after they graduated, Madison and Austin got married at the Reno Nevada Temple. While it’s unclear whether Madison herself is a Mormon, Austin is a member of the Church of Latter Day Saints. The proposal itself was very sweet though. In the summer of 2016, Austin had got down on one knee and proposed to Madison, in the middle of the Reno Rodeo. One knee in the dirt with a cowboy hat on, there could not have been a more Nevada proposal.

Madison has spoken about the sacrifices she had to make for their marriage, nursing school was one of them. The pair had to move to Cleveland in 2018 after Austin was drafted by the Cleveland Browns. It was there that Madison got into nursing school, but just two months after that, they had to move to LA. That happened because Austin had been traded to the Los Angeles Rams of course. And three years after, down to Charlotte after the Carolina Panthers took him.

In the meanwhile, she was kept busy raising the two children they’d had together – one boy, one girl. Another showed up this August. She’s got her hands full! But she’s lucky to have Austin, and he’s lucky to have her. We’re sure Madison will be praying for him to do well against the Bengals tomorrow.
