Are the Chiefs done for? After losing to some underperforming teams, questions surround Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs about their zeal to make it to the playoffs. Is this not the same team that won the Super Bowl? What’s going wrong with the Kansas City Chiefs, and why is Patrick Mahomes so angry these days? Snippets of various Chiefs players are going viral after the Raiders upset, and Aaron Rodgers has his take on it.

A-Rod came to “The Pat McAfee Show” and spoke about the Mahomes situation in depth. While the world seemingly criticizes the signal callers, A-Rod thinks Mahomes deserves some support. The 9-6 Chiefs are slowly losing their place in the seed, and there’s no telling whether they can bounce back with the two regular season games to go.

Everyone’s seen Mahomes angry on camera, yelling at his teammates and, on one occasion, thrashing his helmet. While the Chiefs’ “poster boy” is doing all he can to get back on track, the show’s co-host thinks that Mahomes getting angry on live TV has become a regular affair, and the media is not backing away from showing it. He asked Rodgers’ take on whether Mahomes’ circumstances stemmed from the QB always having to be perfect and whether the reason for his upset was also the Chiefs’ receivers.

A-Rod backed Mahomes and said he’s a competitive QB; often, these things happen. He related this outburst to his career, where he yelled some “colorful metaphors” at his teammates and threw a couple of surface tablets around in his time. Per Rodgers, Mahomes is doing good. It’s just that some of his passes are not on time and, hence, are not connecting. He pointed out how, against the Raiders, Mahomes made some “silly plays,” and he extended those plays beyond the limit. He mentioned how Mahomes is moving around too much and isn’t focused on rhythmic throws.

Per Rodgers, Mahomes bringing out his simple game would be more effective rather than him running around trying to extend plays and make things happen out of thin air. “Some more easier throws would be good but, again the AFC I mean, Pat has never played a playoff game on the road, who gives a sh*t?”

Maybe this is not the problem with the receivers anymore. Perhaps Mahomes lacks communication with his team and focuses on the wrong things rather than making simple plays, or at least that’s what Rodgers thinks.

Can the Chiefs still make it to the playoffs?

The Kansas City Chiefs have two more games left in the season, one with the Bengals and the other with the Chargers. Per Arrowhead Pride, the Chiefs still have a 98% chance to make it to the playoffs, given that they Beat the Bengals next. If the Chiefs had defeated the Raiders, they would have gone on to the playoffs; instead, they halted and now face uphill challenges.

Even if the Chiefs win both these games, the best that can happen is them becoming the third seed in the AFC. If they lose both these games, the worst that would happen to them is a fourth place in the AFC seed.
