Is Tyler 'Snoop' Huntley's rise in the NFL proof that family support can make or break a career?

After getting signed by the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2020, Tyler Huntley has come a long way in the NFL. Having spent his time in Baltimore as a backup to NFL MVP Lamar Jackson, he managed to earn a Pro Bowl in 2022. Although it was due to an injury replacement for Bills QB Josh Allen, Huntley had the determination to perform whenever called upon.

Slated to play his fourth season in the NFL for the Miami Dolphins. Huntley comes in to fill up the space left void by Tua Tagovailoa after his 3rd concussion in two years. Even though the former Ravens QB haven’t had the privilege to become an outright starter for an NFL franchise, his parents, Ricky and Regina Huntley support him wholeheartedly. Not much is known about Huntley’s parents, but they have surely gone out of their way to attend his games.

When Tyler was supposed to make his first start for Utah as a 19-year-old sophomore, his parents dwindled their chances of seeing Huntly play live. As his father, Ricky Huntley, waited for clearance from the doctor, “We’re good.” Well, it was music to the ears of his parents, as they didn’t want to miss the chance of seeing their son from the sidelines. “We’re not going to see this again. You get only one of those.”

But how did Tyler’s parents end up in the doctor’s office in South Florida? It was his mother, Regina Huntley, who had to go through neck surgery after suffering an accident when her car got hit by an 18-wheeler. However, their determination wasn’t meant to be broken, as the couple never missed a practice game where Huntley played.

Therefore, making it to Rice-Eccles Stadium, the Huntleys captured their son, racking up 227 yards, 70 rushing yards and 3 TDs to end his first start against North Dakota. Sitting seven rows behind Utah’s sideline, Tyler’s parents saw the QB make his first interception, rushing touchdown, and mistakes to make it a memorable experience. Sharing his thoughts after the game, Tyler’s dad added, “It’s surreal. Can’t ask for anything else.”

Well, Tyler was equally excited when he saw his parents coming out in support. “That felt good for them to come out and support me. Because, at first, I didn’t know if they were coming out or not.” Looking at his parents’ unwavering support for Tyler, he needs to return the same as he welcomed a baby boy into the family.

On December 14th last year, the Huntleys welcomed a new member of their family, a baby boy named Tyler Jr. Sharing his excitement, Tyler stated, “It’s a life-changing moment. It’s just love to see life being brought into this world.” After expressing his gratitude, the former Baltimore QB added, “Junior’s throwing as soon as possible he can grip a football. He’s already bigger than his papa was, born at a sizeable eight pounds, 12 ounces.”

Although he has the plans chalked out for his son, Tyler would be hoping he can land a starting berth in the NFL. After signing with the Dolphins as an injury replacement, Huntley could use those opportunities to showcase his capabilities. But will he manage to topple Tagovailoa’s position at Center? Only time will tell as Huntley tries to navigate through his NFL career.
