Romeo Doubs recently made headlines for his impressive back-to-back touchdown catches, including a 6-yard TD in the team red zone during the Packers’ training camp. At the root of his journey are his parents, Nakima Whitley and Jarmaine Doubs Sr., who have had a significant impact on Doubs and his siblings Nakano, Jarmaine, and Anastasia.

The third-year wideout’s father, Jarmaine Doubs Sr., was also a collegiate football player who competed for Southern Utah. Following in his father’s footsteps, Romeo developed his interest in the NFL. During an interview, the former 132 overall draft pick out of Nevada explained that his father’s life challenges and upbringing in South Central Los Angeles made him stronger, helping him in his NFL career growth.

In 2007, after the death of his maternal uncle, who was very close to his family, they faced a major setback. In an interview with Tyler Dunne of Go Long, Doubs revealed, “My dad was actually on the run. And then he ended up getting caught up. He went in for about six, seven years.” It was indeed a tough time for Doubs’ family.

Though Doubs witnessed such terrible occurrences when he was 7 years old, he remains humbled by being so young at this critical time. He previously revealed, “You don’t really get that feeling of struggling or understanding what hurts you. If I was old enough to witness that, who knows who you become as you get older?”

As per the reports, Romeo Doubs’ father is no longer alive, but the time and reason for his death remain undisclosed. Romeo Doubs has never spoken publicly about his father’s death. However, his mom, Nakima, is one of the Packers fans who has been supporting the team for years.

Despite his parents’ struggles, his mother’s interest in the NFL has previously garnered huge attention. In 2022, when the Packers selected him as a fourth-round pick, Romeo Doubs shed light on his mother being one of the biggest Packers fans.

He exclaimed that after the Packers’ Super Bowl XLV triumph against the Steelers, his mother became a huge fan of the team. He is truly grateful for being part of the team his mother roots for. “Truly, this is the biggest blessing I’ve ever received in my life. It’s really exciting to be a part of something that she can really root for,” he remarked.

Even though Romeo Doubs has experienced such traumatic events at a young age, his NFL journey proves that he has not given up in the face of hardships.
