Who are Reshawn Slater’s Parents?
Reshawn’s mom, Katie, is his biggest cheerleader. After watching him perform, his dad, Reggie, shared how amazed Katie was, saying, “I couldn’t believe we were sitting there watching our son shine on that stage.”
Reggie, now 51, is a former athlete, having spent eight seasons in the NBA as a dedicated 6-foot-7 power forward. He played for all seven teams, averaging 5.6 points and three rebounds per game.

He had high hopes for his two older sons, R.J. and Raushon, who played basketball but ended up being more into football. R.J. eventually went to the Air Force Academy as an offensive lineman.
Reshawn stepped away from basketball in middle school despite his speed and athleticism, suggesting he could have excelled. Reggie noted that Reshawn’s passion for football was more robust.”In high school, most boys are into Marvel or DC movies,” Reggie mentioned. “But this kid is studying footwork techniques.”
Slater called his dad “an incredible role model,” praising his relentless work ethic and resilience through tough times.
