Earlier during an interview, Quentin shed light on her mom’s sacrifices, which helped him in shaping his athletic career. During the draft-night speech, the NFL WR even recounted a time when his mother sacrificed her own favorite passion of singing in church to shuttle him to a basketball competition.
It was Quentin who announced her retirement during his draft-night party in Dallas. At the moment, when Quentin inked the four-year rookie contract deal with the Chargers at $14.19 million, he declared that his mom was not going to work anymore.
“I just want to give a big shout-out to my mom. She’s going to be putting her two weeks’ notice in today. She can retire. I don’t want you working another day,” he remarked. It indeed reflected mom and son’s strong bond.
Even though Sherry initially “couldn’t believe it,” later she was ready to join her army husband, Carl in retirement.
