2024 has been an excellent year for the rookies. Players such as Jayden Daniels, Bo Nix, Quniyon Mitchell, and many more have demonstrated their talent in the NFL. One of these great rookie talents the NFL world saw was Patrick Paul. The Miami Dolphins spotted tremendous promise in this OT and gave him a shot. They selected him in the second round, as the 55th overall pick in this year’s draft. And the man has never disappointed ever since. Given that he is a rookie, fans are naturally curious about his personal life.

Who is Patrick Paul’s father?

Getting into the NFL was a huge accomplishment for Patrick Paul. And the OT revealed that one thing he ever needed was discipline. The OT told how his father, Paul Unawunwa, was the one who taught him this. He stated, “Discipline was a value instilled in me very young.” Although there isn’t much information about Paul Unawunwa available, Patrick has revealed just how important his father is in his life.

The OT mentioned, “The core values that you, as being a Nigerian, could also attest to is just having, you know, parents that, you know, taught you what was right and what was wrong. Being hard on you about grades, about the little things, who you hang out with.”

Paul Unawunwa instilled Nigerian culture in all of his children. But how many kids does he have? Well, Patrick Paul is the younger of the three kids Unawunwa has. Interestingly they all play football. Nick, the eldest brother, attended Northeastern State University and played football for them till his collegiate year. Chris, his second elder brother, is currently playing for the Washington Commanders after being selected in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Patrick Paul has even posted pictures on Instagram with Chris where the brothers held their separate jerseys. The picture was originally uploaded on the Miami Dolphins’ official Instagram page with the comment, “Big Bro & (not so) Lil’ Bro.”

Patrick Paul has stated several times that he is close to his mother, Victoria Unawunwa. While there is not much is known about her, the OT’s family is a significant one in Nigeria. But why?

Actually, Patrick Paul’s grandfather Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi, is a former Nigerian President. The offensive tackle is proud of this and has expressed how much it has influenced his family. He stated, “He worked his way up from the Army. Being someone who came really from nothing and working his way up to get to that role, working in a place, you know, in London, striving for greatness.”
