When the Philadelphia Eagles picked him in the 2023 draft, it wasn’t just Moro’s dream coming true – it was a family victory! His parents’ unwavering support, sprinkled with lots of positivity and a healthy dose of faith, helped transform that little boy from Nigeria into the powerhouse defensive tackle we see today. Who says you can’t have it all? With his unstoppable drive on the field and his parents’ loving guidance off it, Moro Ojomo isn’t just playing football – he’s living proof that with faith, family, and determination, the sky’s the limit!

Who are Ololade Ojomo and Bimbo Ojomo?

Moro’s dad, Ololade Ojomo, is a pastor and missionary, who originally hails from Nigeria. However, he later moved to the U.S. with his family and works as a senior pastor of Victory House Houston, a Pentecostal church. Ololade continues to devote his life to building faith communities, as he has helped build churches from scratch since moving to the US in 2009.

Ololade also highlighted the role of faith, stating, “Our faith has helped us as a family to go through challenges like that,” as he referred to the tough times when Moro’s sister, Omodele, was battling leukemia, as mentioned in The Athletic’s article from 2018.

Moro’s mom, Bimbo Ojomo, on the other hand, works as an IT and human resources consultant. Upon relocation, she took up the job in Santa Clara, Calif. Talking of the love Moro harbors for his parents, it was highlighted in The Inquirer’s article published in Oct. 2024, as he notes, “My dad makes me believe that this world is at my feet.” And, his mom, “loves up on me and supports me,” he continues. Carrying this love as his foundation, it has helped him actualize his NFL dreams.

How have Moro’s parents helped him propel his NFL career?

Moro attributes his rise in football to his parents, who have always been by his side. Strengthening himself by practicing faith, it was his dad, Ololade who helped him believe that “you’ll always have a better tomorrow,” as stated in SI’s article from 2024. And, it gave him the resilience to swing his bat and swing it hard.

Moro adds,  “My dad gives me great perspective.” He has internalized his philosophy of always working on building the next day. Moro further notes, “Every single day I’m trying to become a better pass rusher, I’m trying to become a better football player … the growth mindset is I’m trying to climb every single day.”

And, despite humble beginnings, Moro worked relentlessly to build his career. From being a backup on the freshman team in high school, he promised himself that he would improve. Practicing weight training in his junior year, he made it to the varsity team and later as an all-state player. And, this culminated with his journey to the NFL fields, for which he is greatly indebted to his parents.
