Matt LaFleur has a strong athletic connection. Luckily, growing up in a sporting background, the Green Bay Packers head coach has maintained a victorious coaching streak. Transitioning from a wide receiver role to head coach in the league would have been impossible without his parent’s guidance.

His dad, Denny LaFleur, also serves as a football head coach and has stood by his side. He serves as a coach and physical education teacher at West Middle School in Mount Pleasant.  The Flushing native has also helped Mount Pleasant High School athletes build impressive athletic portfolios as a teacher and coach ever since joining in 1998.

Denny also assisted young athletes as an assistant coach at Central Michigan University, where he played as a linebacker. Though, Matt’s dad is not the only parent who is involved in coaching in the LaFleur family. His mom, Kristi also served as a coach.

In addition to this, Kristi also coached the track and cheerleading teams at Mount Pleasant, Michigan. With her exceptional coaching skills, she took them to the MHSAA state finals in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Her teaching experience in Mount Pleasant also made her a prominent sports figure.

Reportedly, behind Kristi’s aspirations and biggest achievements is her athletic father, who greatly inspired her throughout her coaching journey.

It was only her father, Bob Barringer, who was the primary influence for Kristi to put a foot into coaching. Bob served as a football coach at Kalamazoo Loy Norrix when she was young. Later, her husband Denny played a major role in shaping her career. Kristi and Denny’s enthusiasm for the game was passed down to their sons. Reportedly, she created t-shirts with a humorous name, “The San Angeles Rammers,” when Matt used to be the QB’s coach for the 49ers. It indeed showcased her equal support to both sons. With mutual understanding and loving strategy, LaFleur’s family has left an incredible mark among their fans.

I am beyond blessed because of the impact you have all made on me!
