Can a strong family bond be the secret weapon for NFL success? Kendrick Green's journey suggests so!

Kendrick Green‘s father unconditionally supports the NFL star! The football center switched to Houston Texans in 2023, after he was initially drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers back in 2021. Across his journey, Green’s family has played an elemental role in trusting in his capabilities. Especially his father, LaMont Carroll, has nurtured his talents since the early days.

Kendrick developed an interest in football when he was just six, influenced by his older brother, Zack Belk. Witnessing his athletic passions, his father was always attentive to his talents. He notes, “I remember he could only play flag football because of his age so once he turned eight and started playing tackle, I thought he was pretty good but you know you don’t want to put that kind of pressure on an 8-year-old,” mindful enough to cater to Kendrick’s emotional health as well.

Hence, trying to avoid the excruciating pressure, Carroll sought to promote his son’s healthy engagement with football. He noted, “We just stayed busy with it, played lots of sports, played lots of instruments and here we are today.” As Kendrick progressed from flag football, carving a path to the NFL, no one was as proud of him as his dad.

Carroll’s support for Kendrick Green

On his selection by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the third round of the NFL draft, the announcement was made at 10 PM on a Friday evening. Recalling the event, Carroll and the family came together to Peoria for a watch party in front of the television. For 15 years, Carroll and Kendrick carried the NFL dream and as it became a reality, Green’s father stated, “I’m very proud, very nervous all at the same time.”

And this is not where this ends. Carroll wants Kendrick to always improve himself. He adds, “I want him to be the best that he can be whether that’s Hall of Fame, whether it’s play three or four years and get out of the league and use his degree to maybe coach.” He is ready to fully support him as long as Kendrick seeks something positive.

Green’s father has always supported him, in both good times and bad. Back in October 2021, when the Illinois football coach Bret Bielema made a controversial statement, criticizing the team’s offensive line and QB depth, Carroll stepped forth to express his disapproval. As Kendrick was a former offensive lineman with the team, his father released a statement in support, posting on X, “Wow. Smh. Smh.” And, with the consistent support for his son, he has never failed to showcase that he is indeed a proud father.
