If you’re a part of the most feared defensive line in the whole NFL, you obviously are there for a good reason. We are talking about the Eagles‘ defensive tackle Jordan Davis. 2022 was the year when Eagles stumbled upon Jordan in the NFL Draft. They gave him a solid 4 year rookie contract of $17 million. Enough to buy himself more than 70 Lamborghini Urus. He got that sweet deal because he’s worth every penny of it. By now, he had 73 successful total tackles, 3.5 sacks and 4 pass deflections. But hey, let’s not look at the stats and judge the player, let’s go beyond that.
In an interview with NBC sports, Jordan Davis said, “I never, even coming out of college, I’ve never been the eye-popping stat guy.” He continued, “I’ve always just been a hard worker. If it was something that I needed to fix and correct, I’ll correct it. It’s just more so about just coming to work, doing the same thing every day, doing the little things and better. It’s all about the details.” That’s a true sportsman right there. He knows his position is not about bagging stats, but supporting his team to move forward. One day, this humble beast will surely be amongst the top guns of the Eagles.

Jordan Davis’ mom, Shay Allen, is the true force that helped him reach NFL stardom. It’s unfortunate that he was raised without a father figure, but Shay played the role of both parents, and clearly, she was highly effective at it. The journey of a single mother is not an easy one; she worked tirelessly for her children, juggling multiple jobs—from tutoring to teaching and even working at the YMCA. She did everything she could to give Jordan a better life.
Shay went through a lot of challenges while supporting her son. Just like every teenager, when Davis was growing up, his hunger was gradually rising, too. As a single mother, who’s responsible to put food on the table for her kids, Shay struggled with fulfilling his appetite. But God helped her when Davis got transferred to Mallard Creek high School and joined the football team. Both breakfast and lunch were included in the practices. It was enough reason for her mother to sign him up. Jordan not only gave her the world but also joined her favorite team—the Eagles.
Shay Allen was a huge fan of Donovan McNabb and the Philadelphia Eagles in the early 2000s. Who would have thought that one day her son would be drafted by them in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft. “I’m sure she’s super proud and super excited for me to be doing it for her favorite team. It makes me want to go even harder” Davis had a smile while sharing this moment with NBC Sports. If there were ever an autobiography about Jordan Davis. Without a doubt, a significant portion would be dedicated to his mother.
