Joe’s father, Stephen Flacco, has always been supportive of his son’s ambitious dreams. A retired police officer by profession, his athletic legacy indeed passed on to his son. He also played football and baseball at the University of Pennsylvania, circa 1979–1983. Raising Joe as the oldest kid alongside his five other children in Audubon, New Jersey, with his wife Karen, they are truly a close-knit family.
Even his mom, Karen Flacco, has played a significant role in Joe’s life. A school teacher by profession, she has since always ensured that he remained disciplined. When Joe was drafted in 2008, Karen took charge of organizing the draft day party at their Audubon, NJ, home.
Expressing pride in his rising success, she still remained humble, commenting humorously, “Mom will still be doing his laundry.” Back on September 14, 2017, Joe also shared a throwback picture with his mom writing affectionately, “Happy Birthday Mom.” his parents have been by his side during both his on- and off-field journey, for which Joe is ever grateful.

Joe Flacco’s father shares his elation on son’s NFL career
On draft day, when Joe’s father Stephen received the news of his son’s selection by the Ravens, nothing else could’ve made him happier. For Stephen, Ravens was the perfect fit. He had remarked, “For us, that’s the big thing. We couldn’t have asked for anything more.” Since then, he has always been a proud father.
Once Stephen also took to revealing his son’s reserved demeanor, adding, “Joe is dull. As dull as he is portrayed in the media, he’s that dull. He is dull.” When Joe made a solid comeback with the Cleveland Browns in 2023, Stephen commented, “We’re just happy as s—, as you can imagine. We want to see those Cleveland fans win, baby.”

Even when Joe Flacco led the Browns to a 37-20 win over the Jets, Joe took to sharing his father’s reaction, adding, “My dad just said, ‘I think it’s the happiest I’ve ever seen you on a football field.'” And, indeed, in such instances, it’s easy to figure out how effective Joe’s parents’ support has been in his life to achieve success.
