Jim Nantz’s deep yet comforting voice has made every sport he has covered amazing. His smooth confident narration of the game coupled with his knowledge of the sport earned him many accolades, establishing him as one of the greatest commentators American sports has produced. But his more than 40 years of broadcasting career, for which he has dedicated every bit of commitment, has come with some pitfalls, like his divorce from his first wife, Ann-Lorraine Carlsen. As she deemed his job as his spouse because he wasn’t there for his wife and children as much as he should have.

But it wasn’t his intention. Family life is something very important to Nantz and one day, he plans to bring his broadcasting career to a close so that he can relax with his close ones without a worry about stats and play analysis. He knows how fulfilling family life is. In fact, he got married again in 2012 and started his next journey with Courtney Richards. And along the way, he was blessed with kids as well.

Jim Nantz has 3 children from his 2 marriages. From his first marriage of 26 years, he has 1 daughter, while during his second marriage, he was blessed with a son and a daughter. Nantz stays with his current wife and their 2 kids in Nashville, Tennessee, and Caroline, his elder daughter has been there to play the role of the big sister. Safe to say, despite the divorce, Caroline and Jim have stayed close and the father-daughter bond has been firm as ever.

Nantz remembers how Caroline was excited by Hilton Head, and he took his children there while covering the RBC Heritage. “They, just like their older ‘Sissy,’ as they call her, are all-in on Hilton Head. They’ve been talking about it since April. And it has delivered. It’s everything they want it to be. It’s their favorite place.”

When Jim Nantz was facilitated at the University of Houston with a banner to his name in September 2024, what made the moment extra special was his 3 kids: “To go back and have all three of my kids with me. My oldest Caroline. My Finley who turns 10 this week. She’s all excited. [And] My little boy Jamo.”

Sure broadcasting is his passion, but Jim’s children make his legacy more overarching.

Who are Jim’s daughters?

Jim’s first daughter, Caroline, was born in April 1994. Her desire to create a brand for herself saw her start her professional career at CBS News (following in the footsteps of her father). Then, she went on to work at NBC’s Universal Access Hollywood. She even tried her hand as a production assistant at CBS Television Studios. For almost the last 6 years, she has been at ADP, an HR services organization where she supervises district-level projects, and this is alongside being a project manager at the Calling Wine. Jim’s second daughter, Finley, was born in 2014. She is still a kid, enjoying her childhood, but if the Nantz genes have shown anything, she is growing up watching her elder sister. Jameson, Jim’s only son, was born in 2016, and the circumstances of his birth, if put to analogy, would be equivalent to a team scoring a match-winning touchdown in the last second. Being born a day before the Super Bowl, this is what Jim Nantz had to say about his son, “My boy definitely has a sense of occasion.”

Of course, he would say that. Jim Nnatz didn’t want to miss the birth, but his wife, Courtney, wanted him to prioritize the coverage of Super Bowl 50, even if it meant missing the birth of his son. But fortunately, he didn’t. He managed to be there for both the events.
