“A rookie quarterback coming in and winning playoff games, I think that’s one of the hardest things to do in the NFL in your first playoff experience. To go out there and win two of them is pretty impressive.” Two-time Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning was even surprised to watch Jayden Daniels perform incredibly in his first season in the NFL.
If you visit Jayden Daniels’s Instagram profile, you will see the quarterback has mentioned “That Kid” as his nickname. Now in the NFL, the Washington Commanders’ QB has made his name in his rookie season by keeping multiple historical records under his belt. His efforts, hard work and dedication helped him to lead his team to the NFC Championship, ending the franchise’s 33 years drought. Born on 18 December 2000 at Fontana, California, to dad Javon Daniels and mom Regina Jackson, Jayden Daniels is the only son of the couple. However, he also has one big sister in life, Bianca. But besides all these, the one of the interesting parts in the couple’s life is that Javon and Regina knew each other for quite sometime before welcoming their first child.
Jayden Daniels’s parents first crossed paths when they were teenagers. Together they attended Cajon High School in San Bernardino, California – the same school which their son later attended. However, it’s still not revealed in public whether the two married each other or not. But as per some reports, the couple now lives separately, co-parenting their children.
And the result is, despite the struggles, the couple’s children are making their names in their respective careers. Daughter Bianca, who was born in January 1999, is trying to carve her name in the film industry. According to mom Regina, it was Bianca, who “helped me grow to the woman I am today.” Having Bianca as her first child, Daniels’s momma wasn’t sure whether she would “fail her or be her biggest hero.” But now as she looks behind, Regina feels she has won seeing her two children grow and succeed on their own.
In addition, Jayden Daniels’s dad Javon and mom Regina also became the greatest cheerleaders of his life.
How Jayden Daniels’s parents helped the QB in his career?
It was Jayden Daniels’s father, Javon, who inspired him to be a footballer. It’s because Javon himself played Division 1 football as a defensive back for Iowa State University in 1998. In addition, he was his son’s coach and mentor, who inspired him and made him fall in love with football. This is evident in Javon’s statements which came shortly before Daniels was crowned the Heisman winner – “When he was old enough to walk, I handed him a ball and I said, ‘This is what you’re going to do.’ He took that ball and he ran with it.” And now he has become the quarterback, a well-known quarterback in his very first season.

Hence, while accepting the 2023 Heisman Trophy, Daniels gave a shout out to his father, “Dad, you put a football in my hands when I was young. I know you raised me to be a corner, but hopefully now the decision to play quarterback paid off. You taught me how to play, lead, and be calm no matter the situation, and I know I wouldn’t be on this stage if it wasn’t for you. So thank you, I love you.” The love and bond between the two could be easily seen. But it was not only his father’s support. Mom Regina too helped him in growing and learning.
Talking about her, Jayden Daniels revealed that his momma has never missed his game. No matter if it is raining or the temperatures are extremely low, she will be there to cheer for him. In addition, watching him grow throughout his life, Regina also “reads people.” Why? Well, as per the QB, “she doesn’t want to put people around me that she doesn’t feel will benefit me.” Moreover, Regina was the one who gave Daniels his famous moniker – that kid, as she once said, “The word perseverance is that kid Jayden.” And now ‘That Kid’ is making his parents nothing but proud!
