Does Jason Pinnock owe his NFL success more to his mom's support or his dad's coaching?

It’s all hereditary! Which father would not love to see his son be a great player in the NFL? Jason Pinnock’s father too wants it, especially because of his own backdrop. The New York Giants cornerback comes from a football background, who shined in his Steelers’ stint where he completed his 4 seasons with “54 tackles (46 solo), 6 interceptions, 19 passes defensed and one fumble recovery.” And a big part of this credit goes to his father, who was his first coach as well as the critic.

Born on June 30, 1999, Jason Pinnock is the youngest son of mom Chantel Pinnock and dad Louis Pinnock. Together the couple also shares their older son, Trey Pinnock. Although not much is known about Chantel’s profession, the fact that she is one of the closest companions of the two brothers reveals that Jason’s mom is her sons’ biggest supporter. The love and bond between mom Chantel and son Jason is easily evident from the athlete’s Instagram post, uploaded on August 4, 2023.

In that post, Jason Pinnock endorsed a sleep products selling company, Casper, by thanking the brand for giving his mom some cozy quality-crafted products. He wrote, “Thank you so much to @casper for giving my mom the best sleep in her brand new home! 🏡 From mattresses, to pillowcases, bedding & sheets.” In addition to that, in the video, he FaceTimed Chantel to give his viewers a real experience. Besides that, it was further speculated that this brand new home is also a gift by Jason to mom Chantel.

Apart from his mother, Jason Pinnock’s father, Louis Pinnock, who idealized Darelle Revis as a kid, is a former athlete from Indiana. By profession, he was a 4-year football letterman at Indiana, working from 1992 to 1995. Moreover, via Jets Wire, Louis “only played in 1992 and 1994 as a running back and a defensive lineman, respectively. He had four rushes for two yards as a running back and recorded an interception as a defensive lineman.”

Hence, being from a football background, Louis wanted his sons to play in the NFL. After his elder son, Trey suffered an injury in high school, Jason has been carrying the baton for him since then. For this, besides his brother, Jason’s father, Louis too, coached him for 11 years, and still, he is his critic.

Jason Pinnock’s father, Louis Pinnock, was once upset with his son!

It’s very common for players to make some mistakes in the games or even while practicing! But not learning from it can cause trouble! Hence, to give Jason Pinnock a lesson, his father, Louis Pinnock, gave him an earful after he dropped an important interception. So, the story starts from the 2023 offseason practice, when Jason pulled off an incredible one-handed interception that quickly caught everyone’s attention. However, for his father, Louis, this play was not that great enough to make Jason a star. It was because, at that time, it wasn’t enough to secure his spot as a starter alongside Xavier McKinney in the Giants’ defense. Hence, to remind him to be grounded, Louis told his son, “Great catch, but it’s about what you do tomorrow. That’s cool and all, but what are you gonna do tomorrow?

Hearing this, Jason understood that his father was right! And from that time onwards, he worked hard, to later secure the starting position with the team. But as they say, “not every plan is perfect,” Jason too faced a setback in the season. In the same year, against a Washington game, Jason Pinnock dropped an easy interception. Seeing this, his father once again, didn’t hold back. He joked that Jason might only like making the difficult catches. Louis explained to Jason via a video call, “It was just like, you’ve got to move on; glad you didn’t let it pile into other negative plays. That’s the biggest thing. But got to catch the ones that come to you. Those are the free ones.

Such critics have always helped Jason Pinnock to move forward in his career. And this year too, he is coming back with more determination, as he emphasized, “Thankful for another year full of family & blessings. Forever Grateful, Always growing” on his Instagram post of June 30.
