Athleticism runs deep in Jalon Walker’s blood! Georgia Bulldogs linebacker is all set to enter the NFL. Impressively, the 21-year-old player became one of the top 5 prospects for the 2025 NFL Draft. He also turned many heads by earning the Butkus Award in 2024. Not only this, but the Bulldogs’ LB also earned the first team All-American nomination.

This isn’t even all. During his Salisbury High School days, he also received the 2021 North Carolina Gatorade Football Player of the Year honor. And, of course, for his football accomplishments, no other is as proud as his parents. His father, Curtis, has been his guiding light throughout his journey and he also learned several athletic lessons from his sporting mom, LaSheka Foxx.

In addition, Curtis Walker received inductions into the South Atlantic Conference Hall of Fame in 2008 and the Catawba Sports Hall of Fame in 2004.

For his accomplishments, Walker’s dad also received acclaim from the Catawba Athletic Director, Dennis Davidson: “Not only is Curtis Walker a Catawba Hall of Famer, he is a great football coach. Our student athletes should be inspired by someone who has not only walked in their shoes, but also achieved All-American status as a player and a great reputation as a coach.” Walker also served as the defensive coordinator at Western Carolina University for a few years.

Before becoming the distinguished head coach, Curtis played as a four-year starter and three-time All-American LB at Catawba College from 1989 to 1992. Clearly, his dad’s athletic transitions and achievements showcased his determination towards football and surely he might have instilled the same football discipline in Jalon Walker. Not only his dad, but Jalon’s mom also played a vital role in shaping his athletic career.

Who is Jalon’s mother?

Just like his dad, his mom, LaSheka Foxx Walker, also inspired Jalon in many ways. Walkers’ mom, who is known as Sheka, has been his constant pillar of support throughout his life. As per sources, his mom is also a former athlete, and she played for the North Rowan. And, alongside her athletic husband, she also served as a development officer at Catawba College.

Beyond her athletic interest, she is also a mom of two sons. She raised Jalon and her other son, Deuce, who is a freshman defensive back at Georgia State, along with her husband. LaSheka constantly encouraged them to write their goals on Post-it notes, taking inspiration from the biblical verse Habakkuk 2:2: “Write the vision and make it plain.”

Jalon Walker spent hours practicing, trying to get a unique vision on his games. And it helped him to gain a better perspective. But even beyond football, he shares a passion for music. During a Sunday sermon at a church in Salisbury, when the pastor announced a singing contest, Jalon’s eyes lit up. He won a trophy and kept winning it for years to come. “It comes from just being around it and hearing it,” LaSheka remarked on his musical talent.

And, in whatever he sought to do, his parents fully supported him, helping Jalon Walker follow his aspirations.
