These issues indeed caught up later, as Terry Peppers was arrested in 2003 on gang-related allegations and later sent to jail. At the time, the future NFL player was just seven years old. Terry was freed after 11 years in 2014, but by then Jabrill was 18. Thus both of them missed out on some of their most important father-son years.
During this time, Ivory Bryant was taking care of the family and assisting the future NFL player in choosing a career. Jabrill himself has stated numerous times that his mother was his power, passion, and strength in the early days of his career. His older brother, Don Curtis, was also assisting the family at the time by doing some odd jobs. Everything was fine, but another tragic incident happened in the family.
