Do you think George Fant's success is more about talent or the strong family foundation?

Creating exclusive holes in running games and being a strong pass blocker aren’t simply abilities George Fant learned along the way; they’re practically in his genes. The Seattle Seahawks OT is ruling the internet, having recently welcomed his fourth child. The 32-year-old NFL player is now gearing up for the upcoming season. In March 2024, he signed a two-year, $9.1 million contract with the Seahawks as a free agent, coming from a family where athleticism is as natural as breathing.

NFL OT’s parents, Kim and George Fant II, have developed sporting skills in him since his childhood days, as they were also basketball players. Fant’s mom, Kim, took part in several basketball competitions at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky, in 1990 and 1991. She received training from Paul Sanderford, a retired college basketball coach.

On the other hand, Seahawks OT’s dad, George Fant II, also had a notable connection with basketball. His father, George, served as a manager on the men’s basketball team at WKU. He used to maintain the general running of the team to free the coach, Clem Haskins, and Murray Arnold, helping the coaches focus on training aspects of the team.

Allegedly, George Fant II had several offers for managing basketball teams from various universities, including Arkansas, UTEP, Alabama, and Penn State, but he chose WKU due to the family’s special attachment to Kentucky.

Just like his parents, George also associated with basketball. The NFL standout OT played basketball during his college days and achieved remarkable accolades at WKU. Thus, his guardians’ athletic ability established the family’s legacy of outstanding quickness and competitiveness.

However, later, George found his interest in the NFL after having a conversation with WKU’s football coach. Fant observed that his perfect size and versatility could help him become a better NFL player. With his parents’ unwavering support, he returned to Western Kentucky for a sixth year as a football player, practicing extensively as a TE.

As per the reports, in less than two years, George Fant has gained almost 70 pounds. “I’m up to 320 pounds now, 321, something like that,” he remarked in his interview. And the number is 24 more than what the team has listed for him. And, the number was exorbitantly high as Fant weighs more than the former Western Kentucky power forward as recorded at the initiation during the offseason in January.

After Seattle’s fifth practice of organized team activities (OTA), where he played as the starting left tackle, he expressed his love for his mom and her food. “My mom lives with me now. She’s brought that good Southern food for me. She likes to make steak. There’s a little grill she’s got. She likes steaks, potatoes, macaroni. I was watching my portions of food before. Now, I’m just kind of eatin’!” Fant remarked.

Allegedly, George’s mom joined her son and daughter-in-law, ex-WKU basketball player Chastity Gooch, in Seattle after the NFL couple welcomed their second son in the 2017 offseason. With his parents’ support, George has been moving forward in the NFL with prompt conviction to deliver his best.
