She also shared that, in 2017, she began working from home, allowing her to meet the needs of her children. She even structured her ideal schedule, working from 7 AM to 3 PM, so she could be there for them.

“I do have my own business now, actually a couple of businesses. One of them is my own insurance agency. It’s been a lot of hard work as a single mom, but they saw me push through school. They saw me work while in school and taking care of them. I didn’t hesitate—whatever they needed, I made a way,” she stated.

As her sons’ first mentor and coach, she significantly influenced their lives. “I pushed him really hard. I trained them in summer track. I was really hard on them,” Cassaundra stated.

In addition, she also noted that it was difficult to tell them the hard truths about their performance during training, but as a mother, she pushed them with determination. “I also showed him a lot of love. With mom, it was like you get the good, the bad, and the ugly. If you’re doing well, I’m going to tell you. If you’re doing poorly and need improvement, I’ll tell you. Then comes the grind—that’s the ugly. I pushed them really, really hard,” she explained.
