Does Drew Dalman's family background give him an edge over other NFL players? Let's hear your thoughts!

Every parent wants their child to follow in their footsteps, and Drew Dalman is doing just that. Drew grew up watching his father play football as a kid, and now got drafted by the Atlanta Falcons with the 114th pick in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL draft. And landed himself a four-year rookie contract in June of the same year.

After drafting Drew Dalman, the Atlanta Falcons shared a video. The caption of the video, “Center Drew Dalman and his father Chris, who was an offensive line assistant coach for us, celebrate his draft selection ❤️” got people’s attention. But what do we know of his parents?

Who Are Drew Dalman’s parents?

Even though there’s not much information about Drew’s elementary school teacher mom, Yanne. Every football fan knows about his father, Chris Dalman. He started his career in 1993, as a sixth-round NFL draft by the San Francisco 49ers, and wen to on to start 64 games as an offensive lineman in 7 seasons with the Niners including a Super Bowl XXIX championship.

After retiring from the NFL, he went back to Palma in 2001 and worked as an assistant football coach and English teacher. After 4 years, he got his first NFL coaching job with the Falcons. Where he worked as an assistant offensive lineman coach for a year. Then he worked at Stanford as an offensive line coach and running game coordinator until 2009. And now he is the president of Palma School in Salinas. 

Chris’ history with the Falcons made him more emotional when Drew got a call from the team. And following his father’s legacy in only his second year, Drew started 17 games at center in 2022. And he never forgets to mention his father is the inspiration for that.

Before joining the Falcons, Drew played 4 seasons with Stanford University, and got first-team All-Pac 12 honors as a senior. However, this all was possible because of his father’s coaching skills. The Center recalled the time he spent at the Falcons as a kid, “I definitely remember running around those fields causing a little mischief.” He further remembers enjoying the team’s facilities and interacting with the team.

But Falcons is not the only similarity between the father-son duo, as they attended the same high school, i,e; Palma High School. And they both not only went to Stanford but also play at center. It’s undeniable that Drew calling his father his ‘role model’ is not just a bluff. But will Drew be able to emulate his father and win a championship? Only time will tell!
