Dallas Goedert’s name surely wasn’t chosen by accident – there was likely a reason behind it, probably because his biological dad was a Dallas Cowboys fan! But as they say, what happens is all destiny, similarly, for Goedert, his destiny had great plans for him.
Goedert was born on January 3, 1995, at Britton, South Dakota, United States, to mom Mary Carlson and dad Dave Goedert. As per several sources, Dave was one of the biggest fans of the Dallas team. Hence, he kept his son’s name on it, probably hoping that one day he could see him in Cowboys’ jersey. Sadly, Dave passed away when his son was very young. Although he couldn’t see the rise of his son in football, Dave, from heaven, must be proud of his son, Dallas, although he was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles as their tight end in 2018.
After the departure of his father, Dallas’ mother, Mary Carlson married Gary Larson. Since then, Goedert and his two sisters, Megan Ochsner and Emily Hrabik, have been raised by their mom and stepdad. Larson is from Britton, South Dakota and he is a farmer. Additionally, Larson is a former semi-professional football player, and likes to keep a low profile away from the media world.

Besides him, Goedert’s mother, Carlson, is a nurse. As a single mother, she raised her three kids before meeting Larson in her hometown, South Dakota, and ended up marrying him. Together the couple has shown strong support for their three children, which one can see when Carlson and Larson accompanied Goedert when he received his Eagles’ jersey. Sharing an emotional moment, Goedert posted that video on his official IG account, saying, “I know that no matter where my parents are, there’s always a small part of them with me on the field.”
In that video, Dallas Goedert can be heard asking his parents to sign an autograph on his jersey, so that they remain with them in every single game. He expressed to Carlson and Larson, “So, from the start of my football career, you guys have always been there with me. I pretty much every one of the games. I know that’ll be harder now, but I still want you guys to be with me at every game. So this is a shirt I wear during games. If you guys could sign the sleeve. You guys will always be with me on the field.”
As a result, happy, proud and emotional parents signed the shirt for him. Even momma Carlson expressed her love for him by saying, “No matter where you’re at, I’m always cheering for you guys. I love you.” Not only that! Even when the Eagles made it to the Super Bowl last year, both parents showed their support and love for him in an interview with Tom Hanson.

When the Eagles went to the Super Bowl finale in February 2023, Goedert’s hometown, Britton, which might be known for its red and white school colors, was brimming with joy. A wave of green was sweeping through the town as everyone rallied behind their local hero. Even for the small South Dakota community, watching one of their own suit up for the Eagles in the Super Bowl was nothing short of incredible.
Although the Eagles failed to clinch the victory, Dallas Goedert became the hero of his community. Talking about his personality ahead of the Super Bowl game in 2023, stepdad Gary Carlson, said, “Dallas learned early on how to compete and win things just came pretty natural for him.”

He even admitted that time, “Yeah there is, it’s kind of nerve-racking this week. I’m trying to keep my mind off it as much as I can at work but it seems like every time you turn a corner someone is asking how it’s going and it’s kind of crazy.” Besides him, Mary Carlson was also excited for her son’s big day. She acknowledged that “It’s a big thing for Britton and across the state you know there’s just not many of us. Phil Hanson right across the state line has a big sign I would sure like to see Dallas have that Super Bowl sign up outside of Britton as well.”
So, if you are still unsure about the palpable excitement in Goedert’s family, just consider this: for the Super Bowl LVII game, the athlete received 15 tickets from the Eagles, and around 21 members of his family went to support him. That’s definitely a huge amount of support for the Eagles’ TE.
