Cooper Kupp shares a phenomenal three-generation NFL lineage! Playing as a WR for the Los Angeles Rams, he entered the NFL in 2017, as he transitioned from Eastern Washington. Even in college, he made waves with his performances, as he earned the ‘Walter Payton Award‘. Enjoying his breakout season in 2021 as he bagged the Super Bowl MVP, his parents couldn’t have been prouder.

Indeed, Cooper’s parents, Craig and Karin Kupp have been elemental to his journey throughout. With deep trust in God’s plan and motivating their son to work hard for his dreams, Cooper’s journey doesn’t fail to make his parents beam with pride and satisfaction.

Who Are Craig and Karin Kupp?

Craig and Karin Kupp have been role models to their sons, whether in the athletic domain or beyond. Craig’s family lineage shares a long tradition with football, as his dad, Jake Kupp, has been a New Orleans Saints HoFer since 1992.

Craig entered the NFL world as QB with the Giants during the 1990 NFL Draft in the fifth round as the 135th pick. Moreover, he made brief stints with the Phoenix Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys, before exiting the realm. And, during good times and bad, he has found his faith as his source of strength as for the Kupp family, “God is the center of [their] home.”

And, owing to this, Craig and Karin have raised their kids, Cooper and Ketner with religious beliefs. Back in 2019, during an interview with ‘Pulse Magazine‘ Craig added the reason for this. “I was blessed to have two great parent role models. The presence of Jesus and God’s authority and love was just a part of my upbringing,” he stated as such ethics he passed on to his children. Faith and athleticism are the foundation of their bonds, as Karin was also a distinct athlete in his college years.

Karin Kupp, Cooper’s mom played soccer for the University of the Pacific, circa 1987 to 1990. And, professionally, she is a fitness teacher these days. Karin was always there for Cooper, supporting his dreams. Even his mom also addressed him as a ‘real skinny kid’ during an interview with Pulse Magazine back in February 2022. Being a real skinny kid, who was a lot smaller than everyone else. But in his mind, he was the best football player out there, not in an arrogant way at all,” she added.  Seeing him make such a breakthrough in the NFL, her heart is full.

How have Craig and Karin Kupp supported Cooper’s NFL dreams?

With three generations being involved in professional football, the latest being carried forward by Cooper Kupp, his parents are moved by tears. Craig is very proud of his son. When they watched the Super Bowl LVI back on February 13, 2022, seated in a suite, he recalled the memories during in in discussion with a Nypost reporter at that time.

“I was telling my son Ketner and my wife, ‘They’ve gotta put this in Matthew’s and Coop’s hands on this drive.’ And then live and die with the results,” he stated in an interview dated February 2022. And, it was exactly how he expected it to be, as he was ecstatic with joy. Later the family celebrated the victory at Disneyland with Stafford and Aaron Donald.

But, even during bad times, they have always ensured to be there for Cooper. As he faced an ACL injury during the 2018 season, they asked him to have faith in God. During in candid discussion with Pulse Magazine back in June 2019, Craig recalled it.“Like any difficult situation, I need to fall back and realize God is in control. His plan for Cooper and Anna is still good whatever the outcome,” he added.

Now, as Cooper is taking strides on the NFL fields, they still have kept their humility and sense of humor intact. Craig added that his fantasy football league friends had already warned him. He said humorously in an interview dated June 2021, “They’re not just going to let me draft Cooper. Those days are over. They say I’m riding him for every win that I’ve got.” Craig and Karin are very proud of their son, and in his every victory both on and off-field, they support him with all zest.
