Growing up on the family farm, Colston drew many colleges’ attention. He received offers from LSU, Alabama, Auburn, Michigan, and others. But he decided to shape his athletic career with Michigan in July 2021.
Since he became the Wolverines, he has proved himself as the synonym of winning. His collegiate career milestones, which include 2024 All-American honors and a 2023 national championship title, showcased his determination on the field. But for his career accomplishments, no one is as proud as his dad, Chad Loveland, and mom, Rachel Faulkner. And now, as he has become one of the top tight end prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft class, fans are eager to know about his parents.

Who is Colston Loveland’s mother?
Colston Loveland has been greatly influenced by his mom, Rachel Faulkner. His mother, who comes from a ranching family in Gooding, Idaho, helped him shape his athletic career. From taking inspiration from her personal life experiences, she instilled in him the values of hard work and flexibility. All of that made Loveland the athlete he is today.

Colston invested the majority of his young life riding horses and herding sheep and cattle on his family’s farm. Being raised in a rural region gave him an incredible work ethic and versatility. Absolutely, these attributes helped him greatly to garner achievements on the football field.

Colston drew much attention for his jaw-dropping play in fifth and sixth grade. He was still humble. His mom reflected on his humility, saying, “He never wanted to have the big spotlight or all the attention because all his best friends were on the team. He wanted to make sure everybody was getting the love and feeling the attention, and so I don’t think it ever got to his head.” Rachel’s bliss in his son’s football prowess was evident. In addition, his mother appreciated him since he was the “Super humble” of the Gooding people.
As mentioned in ‘The Athletic Daily Report,’ published back in October 2024, Rachel Faulkner talked about her son’s kindness during an interview with the Daily. As Colston often expresses his thanks for the support from Gooding people, it surely made his mom even exceedingly pleased.
“(He’s) just super humble about it, And he’s always very polite and goes out of his way, even at games, to try to talk to all the kids and anybody that he can and make them feel included and feel the love and thankful for them coming out and supporting him,” Rachel remarked.
Not only this, but during an interview with 247 Sports, Colston’s mom revealed her son’s commitment to Michigan and his successful journey. “The entire coaching staff was welcoming, accommodating, and genuine. They made us feel like Colston would be in good hands there and not just as an athlete, but as a student as well,” Faulkner stated. In addition to being thrilled at the time, Rachel also demonstrated her faith in the Michigan coaching staff. Particularly tight ends coach Jay Harbaugh, who was instrumental in Colston’s recruitment.
Apart from being a proud mom to her athletic son, Colston, she also raised her other son, Cayden, along with her husband, Chad Loveland. Like his mom, Colston’s dad has also played a vital role in shaping his athletic trajectory.

Amazingly, Loveland recorded 4 TDS with 57 tackles and rushed for 352 yards in high school. And his breathtaking performance earned him the 2021 Idaho Gatorade Player of the Year honor.
