His father, Jerronney Darrisaw, a scientist, and mother, Kimberly Cherry, were never married. Though he was born in Petersburg, VA, he later moved to Maryland where his mother and grandmother raised him. But his parents always made sure that he received everything he needed. From emotional support to money, they provided him with all.

An Amityville, New York native, Jerronney Darrisaw, lives in Baltimore now. Between 1994 to 1998, he studied Biology/Pre-Medical at Virginia State University. During that time, he also worked as a Chemical Laboratory Assistant at England China Clay International. It was the foundation for his successful career as a scientist. Now, he is working as a scientist at Martek Biosciences.

His mother’s sole focus was to raise him in the right way. And she did it perfectly. When Christian Darrisaw was 5-6 years old, he was way taller than other kids and also played as a first baseman and cleanup hitter in baseball. He often suffered pain in his knees and back. When Cherry took her to a doctor, the reason told was playing sports as a big kid. Reminiscing about those times, his mother remarked, “Kind of like growing pains, in a sense.”

How did Christian Darrisaw’s parents support him without marrying?

Though they didn’t marry, Jerronney and Kimberly were clear about one thing. Watching their son play football. They were always present during his games, in college, and in the NFL. But the tackle kept the worrying news away from them.

Whenever he suffered any injury, he wouldn’t tell them and continued to play with it or recover. His father confirmed this and said, “I would’ve never known he was injured until he said something about it.”

However, his accomplishments were enormous enough that couldn’t be hidden. During the 2021 NFL Draft, both parents sat alongside him while he checked his phone for updates. However, they had very small talks as there was tension in the room. Then, his big moment came. The Vikings drafted him as 23rd overall in the first round.
