Bryce Young, the talented QB out of Alabama, has been in the limelight for the past two years. The no. 1 2023 NFL Draft pick, Young signed a massive $37.9 million deal extending to four years with the Carolina Panthers. Gaining ‘unanimous’ consensus over his selection, it speaks voluminously of his football skills. Winner of the 2021 Heisman Trophy, he is indeed the most pro-ready QB in the class.

Craig and Julie Young married in July 1995, and six years later they welcomed Bryce in 2001. His father Craig named him after Bryce Paup, who was a well-known football player. This move reflected Craig’s unrelenting passion for football. Young’s father got his sociology degree from UCLA and later received his M.A. in marriage and family therapy from Pacific Oaks College. With 25 years of robust experience in the mental health field, he offers services to counsel, consult, and coach.

As a mental health therapist, he also adopted insights into his parenting skills, pushing Bryce to take care of his mental well-being amidst intense pressure. Hence, during his college transition, Bryce openly sought mental health support with their guidance. Craig also aspired for a future in football, but it didn’t take off. Hence, he took to motivate and support his son’s dreams.
Young’s mother, Julie, is a former special education teacher. She was also athletically involved during her formative years, as a star high school soccer player and later at Cal Poly Pomona. While Julie maintains privacy on her social media, Craig actively uses IG to post about his family, football, and motivational content. Craig and Julie have made multiple sacrifices to offer a supportive environment for their son’s ambitious dreams. One such instance includes uprooting themselves to move closer to Alabama.

As Bryce attended the University of Alabama, Craig and Julie moved closer to continue supporting Bryce. They bought a house just an hour away from the university, to spend dinner time together, and provide a homely space to the QB during his formative years as a student-athlete. Not only this, they were heavily involved in Young’s recruiting process.
As Bryce celebrated his 22 birthday at the Carolina Panthers training camp, his parents were present alongside him for consistent support. On the very first day of training camp, Coach Frank Reich named him the Panthers’ starting QB. Craig and Julie have also decorated all of Bryce’s awards and memorabilia at their home.
