“Never give up.” Since childhood, Brevin Jordan has learned this major thing from his parents. And today, even after being drafted out of Miami in 2021, he has become a reliable number 2 tight end for the Houston Texans, after Dalton Schultz. The reason for his unshaken status in the league is his parents.
Jordan reportedly had limited time with his single momma, Beverly Jordan, when he learned about her breast cancer. The nails were turning black, her hairs were falling off, and the disease spread from “her left breast to her right breast and to her lungs.” Doctors who were treating her gave up, as they stated that she could live for three more years or in the worst-case scenario for another year. The time when Beverly was diagnosed with the disease (Stage 3), Brevin was just four years old.
But instead of giving into despair, Beverly fought back. She adopted a healthy diet and conquered the disease. Now, nearly after two decades, she is completely free from cancer, and even attends her child’s football games. For Brevin, his mom is the real driver for his success. She supported him and her other two children (all sons) as a strong single mother, and perhaps that’s why while talking about her, Brevin once said, “Everything I do, I do it for her.” But Beverly isn’t the only source of Brevin’s football prowess. A major credit also goes to his dad, Darrell Jordan.

Darrell was a linebacker in college at “West Texas A&M (1985-86) and Northern Arizona (1988-89).” He was even drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the 1990 draft. However, his NFL journey ended very soon. Darrell suffered a shoulder injury in his preseason game, and unfortunately his career ended there! In addition to that tragedy, one major change happened in Brevin and his family’s life. According to some outlets, Darrell and Beverly separated from each other.
When Beverly was raising her two sons, Darrell never nudged his children to follow football. But when Brevin and his older brother O’Shay Jordan recovered their father’s football kit, they naturally inclined towards the sport. However, only Brevin made it to the league.
But before making it to the league, Brevin went through a tragic incident again that left him in tears. His father, Darrell, died from a heart attack when the tight end was in school. However, he picked himself up and moved forward. Today, Beverly is proud of her son, who not only has become a big sensation in the league, but has also won hearts of cancer survivors.

Brevin Jordan wished a happy life to the cancer survivors!
During a brunch at NRG Stadium, Brevin Jordan and his single mom, Beverly Jordan, attended the Crucial Celebration event last year. They met eight cancer survivors who also shared somewhat similar stories like the tight end’s mother. Each survivor represented a different type of cancer recognized by the NFL’s Crucial Catch initiative, which aims to raise awareness of early detection and risk reduction. Additionally, that event honored cancer survivors with four tickets each to the then-upcoming game against the New Orleans Saints, where they were “Reppin’ H-Town representatives.”

During the event, Jordan recalled the moment his father informed him of his mother’s severe illness, which he didn’t fully grasp until he was older. And also let the listeners know that his mother replied to the doctors with: “I’m not going to die.” He said that this reveals her true fighter spirit. In addition to that, Brevin encouraged all the survivors and the people who are dealing with cancer, saying, “Keep going, never lose hope. There will be tough days and better days….We all come from the same loving nature. I’m excited, and we’ve got to get a win for them.”
The Texans, in partnership with Kroger, celebrated the survivors and their guests at the event. The event was also attended by Chairman and CEO Cal McNair, foundation vice president Hannah McNair, Jordan, and other players.
