Boise State’s star running back, who is projected to be a top-10 NFL Draft pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, faced a lot of adversities in his childhood.

By the time he was in Middle School, Ashton had lived in Georgia, Florida, and Virginia.” It indicates that constant relocation and moving might have helped him shape his football career.  But, becoming the Heisman Trophy runner-up in 2024 and clinching the Maxwell and Doak Walker Awards wouldn’t have been possible without his parents’ support. Who are Ashton Jeanty’s parents, Pamela and Harry Jeanty?

Jacksonville, Florida native, Ashton Jeanty, is greatly inspired by his dad, Harry Jeanty. His dad, who served as a Navy officer, raised him with intense discipline and acumen that made him a distinguished athlete. Interestingly, from his dad’s challenging job that included multiple relocations and transfers, Ashton learned a lot.

During his tenure as a Navy officer, Harry Jeanty was stationed in Virginia, Texas, Jacksonville, Florida, where the RB was born in 2003. But Ashton had a tremendously difficult time during his dad’s three-year service in Italy. It was certainly challenging to hone his football skills in a country that gives little importance to football. During that time, Ashton, 21, played for an Italian-based team.  Conclusively, Broncos player Ashton Jeanty considered these places as his ‘home’ as they polished his football skills.

Impressively, throughout his time from Great Bridge Middle School to Boise State, his father has been with him as his guiding light, keeping him attentive and grounded. It is pretty much clear that Ashton’s hard upbringing really made him one of the best RBs in college football.

Clearly, if his NFL aspirations come true, he might become one of the top NFL RBs like Saquon Barkley, Derrick Henry. Even recently, on 16 April, before the NFL Draft, Boise State’s RB made his intentions clear. As published in The Players’ Tribune, Ashton believes that he can do something similar to what Barkley did last season to lead the Eagles to their Super Bowl win.

“Most people watched the Eagles win the Super Bowl a couple of months ago, saw Saquon run through everyone in the playoffs, and thought: This is amazing. I watched it and thought something different. I thought: That can be me, “ he explained.

And, clearly, his solid foundation from his dad developed such a kind of confidence. Not only his dad, but his mom, Pamela Jeanty, keeps him motivated all the time. Though there is very limited information available about his mom. But, recently, the mother-son bond went viral on the internet.

On 14 April, Ashton Jeanty dropped a short clip of a commercial, featuring him with his mom.  “Big Moves ft. my mom🫶🏾 #OpendoorPartner,” he captioned the post. As he collaborated with the real estate company, Opendoor, his chemistry with his mom captivated the fans. With such instances, it is clear that with his parents’ strong backing, he is now all set to achieve his NFL aspiration as he has become the top prospect of the NFL draft.

How have Ashton Jeanty’s parents propelled their son to football success?

With above mentioned instances, it is evident that his football career was greatly influenced by his Haitian parents’ cultural upbringing. Even earlier, during an interview with Fox Sports, Ashton credited his dad for making him the athlete he is today.  “My dad was born in Haiti. My mom was born in the U.S., but both her parents are from Haiti. But just the culture, man. Being in it. All the values of it,” he explained.

Besides this, he also expressed the proud feeling on his dad’s success, who gave him and his family a ‘better life.’ “My family is from a country where not too many people make it out and are able to have great careers. There’s just so much in the history that’s gone on there. … That’s kind of the story. My dad moved over here when he was pretty young, in high school, to give himself a better life, and he gave his whole family that he raised a better life,” he described further.

Taking inspiration from his dad’s challenging job and his life, he accomplished his football career goals. “Don’t let your circumstances hold you back. Obviously, I was born in the U.S. and all that type of stuff, but I just learned from my dad, my family. So I just want to continue to be an inspiration for all Haitians,” he confessed. It indeed showcased his parents’ steadfast support that paved his path to the NFL.
