The heartfelt father-daughter bond between Kylie and Andre Johnson

For the first five years of her life, as her father used to play at the NRG Stadium for the Houston Texans, Kylie used to connect with him over calls, answering, “Oh, I know where you are. You’re at NRG Stadium.” And, Andre Johnson used to affirm with a nod, smiling on the other end of the phone.

In March 2015, when Andre Johnson was at a critical juncture in his NFL career, switching from the Texans to the Indianapolis Colts, the change was quite overwhelming for Kylie. During an interview, Andre Johnson recalled her reaction, adding, “At first, she didn’t believe me. I was trying to explain to her that I was going to play for a new team in a different city. She would shake her head and say, ‘No you’re not. You can’t be.’”

However, Kylie showed resilience as she began to adapt to her father’s transition to Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Andre Johnson tried to emotionally cater to his daughter with utmost love and patience. “You have to be realistic with yourself. Coming into this situation, I knew what could happen, and so when you’re realistic with yourself and not thinking above and beyond what can happen, then you’ll be fine and you can deal with it.” Eventually, Kylie accepted the change, understanding that it was a crucial part of her father’s journey.

Kylie has indeed played a big role in her father’s career, as he switched to coaching with the Houston Texans organization after he retired from playing. Their strong bond never fails to touch the hearts of the fans.
