“I have always taken a lot of pride with my name, with my family. just making sure that I represent them- and everyone else that I love- the right way,” Allen Lazard once said. Indeed, it reflects his deep regard and gratitude towards his family and parents. Raised in a sporting environment, the WR has continued to achieve his NFL success. Entering his 6 season with the New York Jets, he has left many awestruck with his spectacular performance in the ongoing season, leading the team with 89 receiving yards and 2 TDs in Week 1 against the San Francisco 49ers. Seemingly, with his strong off-field backing from his athletic dad, Kevin Lazard, and his mom, Mary Lazard, he continues to rock on the field. Fans are equally interested in knowing about his parents.

Who is Allen Lazard’s athletic father, Kevin Lazard?

Despite impressive records, his NFL dreams went unfulfilled as he was undrafted. However, the Bellflower High School player never gave up, and he pursued further education in management information systems (MIS), securing a BA degree.

After getting his degree, for several years, he worked as a retail manager for a mass-market retail company, Target. Besides that, he also worked as an IT service assistant for Iowa State.  And, then he branched out to the field of finances and marketing, making a significant career in it. He earned his MBA degree in business administration from Phoenix University in Arizona.

Despite being a college football star, he also explored his skills as a system analyst, developer, business analyst, and programmer. And even though he has been working for multiple companies, he stayed involved with football by training Urbandale High School students as a varsity assistant coach.

Seemingly, his love for sports has passed on to his son, Allen, and his elder brother, Anthony. Reportedly, he used to play football with his sons in the backyard of his house and watch live Iowa State games on TV when they were young.

Hence, it is no wonder to say that his dad developed athletic discipline, work ethic, and value in him and his brother. Like him, Allen faced an initial disappointment when he was not drafted in the 2018 NFL draft. At this moment, Allen’s dad got emotional, as he had believed in Allen’s talent as his family history repeated.

“We were all heartbroken and disappointed that no one saw the value of his talents with the NFL” Kevin expressed his frustration at that moment.

Later, when he joined the NFL as a free agent with Jacksonville and scored his first TDs, his dad detailed his exhilaration. “When he scored his first touchdown, he was spiking the ball. Pumping his chest,” Kevin added. In addition to this, he also expressed his feelings. “We’re just like, ‘That’s just odd!’ I don’t know how to take that. It’s been exciting. He’s his own man, and if that’s what he wants to do, that’s all up to him,” his dad further added.

Similarly, Allen Lazard earlier also expressed his feelings, leading his family legacy in football. “To be on this stage, finally, now, nothing has really changed for me. Same goals, same work ethic. It’s just a different stage,” Allen stated.

However, not only his dad who helped him to achieve his NFL trajectory, but his mom, Mary, equally supported him throughout his journey.
